淇里思印度餐館 CHILLIESINE Indian Restaurant 大坑店 Dakeng — Restaurant in Taichung

I was very disappointed with this restaurant. The franchise in Taichung, Chongde location, is much better. I especially loved my experience at the one in Taichung so we decided to visit the one in Dakeng on my birthday. We made a reservation and stated that the occasion was a birthday. I tried to order naan but the server argued with me that it was not good unless I ordered curry. I also tried to order chicken tikka and again the server argued with me and told me I should order the lamb chops, which by the way are more expensive. I ended up ordering chicken curry and naan simply because I was tired of arguing with my waiter. It was a much different experience than we had at the Chongda location. Good ambience, but with unfriendly Taiwanese staff. Unwilling to introduce the menu. Of course, as a foreigner, I wanted to know and ask about the dishes and for recommendations, but before I could ask, he was gone. Good thing a very patient and kind Indian staff was there to assist. Another Taiwanese staff who was assigned in the counter (dinner time). Didn't hear any single word from him, even after paying. Even just the basic phrases "thank you" or "come again" , 都沒有. It was rather refreshing to find what feel like an authentic Indian restaurant in Taiwan as a foreigner that relates and loves Indian food. I had pumpkin soup as an appetizer, it was not really to my liking as I expected a thick consistency instead of a broth. For main i had butter chicken curry and Naan bread which was an absolute perfection. I will definitely be returning to try out more of their food. I also was let down by the room temperature beers from the display fridge. The glass being cold doesn't do much for the temperature of the drink.
