I went on New Year's Day planning to sit and do some study while enjoying a coffee. Within the first two minutes of being here I was asked three times if I wanted my order as a takeaway.

I know my Chinese is not great, but I think it's OK. Perhaps there was some language misunderstanding, but after the third time I really had no choice but to assume they wanted me to leave. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere.

I've been in Taiwan for 2 years and had many awkward interactions because of the language barrier, but I've never felt so uncomfortable as I felt here. For this reason, I probably won't return, which is a pity because the coffee was...
