I highly recommend this Restaurant next to the train station in Taoyuan. I was in Taoyuan for an 18 hours layover, and wisely decided to leave the Airport to go sleep in a real hotel instead of on an airport bench.
I came here initially because of the alcohol menu (many types of beers from Europe and America). The Piraat beer is 10% alcohol by the way. I also ordered their scrambled eggs and green onions dish with rice for brunch. There are some vegetarian options for those interested.
Alex was the manager here for the day I visited and he is very helpful and speaks perfect English. Despite a busy restaurant full of customers, I was well taken care of. I spent over an hour here drinking and eating and will happily repeat the visit the next time I layover in Taiwan!
In the month of May, 2024 the Taxi cabs at the Airport were charging 700-1000 Taiwanese dollars for a 15 minutes ride to the hotel (2 hotels are located within 1 kilometers of the train station).
