My laptop and I visit a lot of cafes. As an author, I’m always looking for good places not only to eat and drink but to sit and write for hours. As a teacher, I believe in scoring according to various criteria. With that in mind, these are my opinions about this one.
Food: * I ordered the pumpkin soup, which was creamy and delicious. Later I got the pesto chicken risotto with pine nuts. Great flavor! It’s a little spicy (even though I chose the least spicy option) so a milky drink would have been a good complement. (I had already finished my smoothie by then.) Drinks: * I had the berry yogurt smoothie, which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Delicious and refreshing! I would definitely get it again. Prices: * Definitely higher end, but so is the food. Variety of Menu Options Available: ** There are a number of meal options, including rice and pasta dishes and “brunch” combos with eggs and several other items. Also, a few salads and one soup. Not really any quick, light snacks, though, unless you count the soup. Variety of Non-Coffee Drink Options: ** There are about six teas (including non-caffeinated herbal teas), plus matcha milk and one smoothie. English Menu? Mostly, but it’s all online (accessible via QR code). The food items are listed in both English and Chinese, but the drinks are only in Chinese. Wi-Fi/Charging Ports Available? Wi-Fi, yes. No charging ports, but I saw a few outlets Pleasant Environment/Comfortable to Write In: ** The chairs are hard and uncomfortable if you want to sit a long time. (I actually brought my own cushion, but even that wasn't really enough.) The front room was crowded and noisy (it was a weekend right at the end of the lunch hour), but the back room wasn’t bad, especially after the lunch crowd had gone. I appreciated that the background music was quiet, pleasant, and instrumental. I also enjoyed watching some cats who apparently live in the little courtyard out back. (They’re having dinner in one of my photos.) Customer Service: ** Hours: 10:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. weekends; 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., 5:00-9:00 p.m. weekdays What was the Restroom Like? Not quite as clean as I would have liked, but not bad. Additional Comments: This cafe is technically in Guei Shan, not Linkou. I was getting off the MRT and decided to use the opportunity to try out a new-to-me cafe in that area. It’s an easy walk from...
