Watch out people, If you expect good service with a professional attitude, do not expect to find it at this Starbucks location.
This shop is terrible, from the store manager, assistant manager onwards to the staffs, their attitude is "I work at Starbucks so take it or leave it, I don't care and no matter what I do I cannot be wrong. It's either the system's fault or the customer's fault, not mine..."
I just had the most awful Starbucks experience ever 4 days ago with a purchase of a thermal flask that was a combination of using accumulated star points and cash...I was so excited and my friend went on my behalf, I gave him photos of the DM regarding this offer, having purchased many Starbucks mugs, glass cups, tumblers, and other merchandise. It has been a long time since a merchandise caught my eyes.
But the store clerk charged $450 instead of the advertised $400, and when my friend pointed this out, the clerk says the system rings up to $450 so that's it, I was charged $450.
The clerk didn't bother to check their own website Nor the labels that clearly marked the advertised price on the outside of the merchandise box.
When I received the merchandise and the story of how I was charged $50 more, I called the store, after I explained I was charged the wrong price, the person who answered the phone said the shop is closed and she will get back to me the next day...
She did call the next day afternoon, but only to tell me that the DM and emails sent to members did show that the item was $400, not $450, and that she will need to call me again the next day with a solution, no apologies was offered, which I pointed out to her.
Ok the story is long but bear with me because it illustrated the point of how bureaucratic and incompetent the handling of the incident was and how much of my time (4days!!!) was wasted. It was agreed finally that they will sent me cash and they offer me a coffee coupon which I did not ask for...
My ask was that they refund the over charge and that a manager grade staff calls me by phone and acknowledge their wrong handling of this transaction and apologize for wasting so many days of my time. After agreeing to this solution.
Afterwards, they called me and promptly change the agreed actions yet again, extending a further 1 day.
Why you ask, I was told because the manager wanted to come in person (5 mins walk to my building) to give back the cash and offer me the coffee coupon, I reluctantly agreed.
The excruciating event finally ended today as the manager came, with no apologies to start with again but immediately expanded on how their staffs made no mistakes and it was the system's error in total; I asked her if her staff realized at the point of sale that the pricing was wrong why did they go ahead and charged me the wrong amount?
The manager had no answers to my question but immediately launched into the repeat mode of how her staffs made no errors at all and it was the system.
At this point I ended the conversation with her as she had no sincerity at apologizing and was only interested in shifting the blame to "their system".
This is a sad day for Starbucks as an organization which started to establish an organization that offers efficiency with friendly courtesy and professionalism have fallen far below the standard here in Taiwan...although I must say I've had experiences with the Far Eastern Hotel adjacent location and the Swan Herr Hospital locations and both were good.
It's a pity that's not the case at the Nankan locale and I hope that Starbucks Taiwan will review the integrity of the Nankan store and how the managements and staffs' conduct and behavior demonstrating the lack of owning responsibilty for their behavior and a terrible example of "service" for the Starbucks brand. Sure, continue to Blame it all on the "system" and not the human factors!!
