玉里橋頭臭豆腐 — Restaurant in Yuli

Visited 3 weekends ago on a Saturday. We arrived around 5pm. First you must get in line to wait for the staff to hand you a number. Then you wait for your number to be called to order. The line wasn’t too long when we got there, but we still waited for about 30 minutes to get our number. After we got our number (13, if I remember correctly), we waited another 20 minutes to order and pay for our food. It’s made to order, but after we ordered, we just waited a couple of minutes for them to prepare our order. The tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s softer then the fried stinky tofu I’ve had elsewhere. And the pickled cabbage and turnip is a perfect accompaniment. We also ordered a bottle of sweetened ice black tea, it was pretty good. This small unsuspecting town has the best stinky tofu I've had in all of Taiwan! If you're making a stop in Yuli, try to make the effort to come here. There was no wait for me on a Wednesday nights but other reviewers have warned otherwise.

You can smell the "stink" down the block, stronger than other places in Taiwan I'd say. Skin has a nice crunch, the tofu itself is nice and soft. You get a nice kick in spice and heat too! Rated five stars in the realm of street food, this pungent tofu earns its praise with a flawless frying technique. Queueing with a numbered tag is a must, and their sole offering is the perfectly fried smelly tofu. Served piping hot from the oil, the exterior is wonderfully crispy, complemented by the addition of well-blended fermented cabbage.
