I was visiting Zhubei and found this restaurant nearby where I was on Google Maps so decided to pop in. It is a vegetarian restaurant 蛋奶素餐廳 that can cater to vegans 全素 upon request when ordering.
Upon entering, the restaurant was very clean and no one was there when I arrived which seemed odd for such a highly rated restaurant. The customers soon arrived for their evening meal.
The owner was very friendly and tried to help me the best they could. They said that they could provide all the rice dishes without eggs. They recommended the mapo tofu but I was concerned with the spiciness so asked for another suggestion. They suggested the following two dishes: 香椿炒飯,手工豆干. I ordered those along with the following soup 養生藥膳湯.
The food was freshly cooked which is a good sign. The presentation of the food was great and makes the food look appealing. However, when I received the rice dish, the plate had stains which I didn't expect. You may be able to observe these in the photo. The rice tasted okay, however it was a bit underwhelming. My opinion is that the dish could do with more flavour. Also, there's only one vegetable on the side. I've had this dish at other restaurants where I receive more vegetables.
I moved onto the dougan 豆干 which was okay. It was soft and placed in some kind of watery sauce. However, I'm used to eating it with a richer and firmer taste.
Finally, I wrapped up my dinner with the only vegan soup on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised as it tasted great and was worth the money.
Overall, I was satisfied and full at the end of my meal, thanks to the soup and the service. However, due to the issues mentioned above, I can only give the restaurant 3 stars on...
