Really difficult to find even using Google maps. Sushi Chef is not on the main street but just behind it next to автодиагностика to the right of Dushanbe mall (while standing in front of the mall). Very glad after all that searching I liked what I ordered: 10 unagi (yrорь) sushi nigiri and 10 syake (лосось) sushi nigiri. I should say that, by way of disclosure, I only eat nigiri, sashimi and gunkan. Unfortunately, no sashimi or gankan served but they did have a picture in the menu of a caviar-filled gunkan but that was not available to order. I don't like tuna in general and I am not a fan of shrimp nigiri, though I do like tempura shrimp, which, though on the menu, I was dissuaded from ordering based on the picture, which did not look at all like tempura. So that left me with salmon and eel, which, I must admit, were excellent and a good buy at 19 and 16 somoni (exclusive of the 10% service fee). Each piece was fairly large. Sushi rice was also fine. Of course, it would have been even greater were other fish available like ika (squid), hamachi (yellowtail), hotate (scallop), mirugai (clam), awabi (abalone) and tai (red snapper) but flying in those items would probably be quite costly. I wanted to order a Mohito but there was no barman so I skipped drinks entirely. The only Japanese dessert I like is green tea ice cream, which was not in the menu, so I skipped dessert as well. (No desserts on the menu appealed to me.) Good service but not many customers turned up on the first day of Ramadan (01-03-25). Modest venue but comfortable. However, not having bar service was, unfortunate; but what counts in the end, above all, is the food. I would just add that I found the menu to be incongruous as nowhere was written "nigiri;" nigeri were listed under "minirolls," which is a misnomer and one highly confusing at that.

It was a bit warm in the restaurant. Waited about 10-15 mins for the sushi. California roll and cucumber maki is good. Tamago maki was unavailable. Soya sauce, wasabi and ginger was served along with chopsticks, making it an authentic experience. Spent about 130 TJS for 3 pax.
