As I’ve been staying at a local hotel I’ve enjoyed the coffee that is served at the Kahawa Cafe. The staff have been welcoming and the service (it’s only making a coffee) fine. On my fourth visit I decided to have a toasted chicken sandwich, which is served with French fries together with my coffee. The preparation took quite some time, but I wasn’t in a hurry and had my coffee. When the sandwich came it had been lightly toasted, and my extra order of avocado was included. It tasted fine and was as good as I expected in a cafe. However, the fries were cold when they came to my table with the sandwich so I informed the server. The server went back to the counter and told their colleague, and I waited for some fresh ones to arrive. And waited. And waited until I spoke to another member of staff to ask if they were going to bring fresh, hot fries. I was told that they weren’t, which wasn’t what I expected. I suggested it would have been appropriate to do so, and I was then asked if I wanted some making. By this time I had nearly finished my sandwich and coffee so declined. In summary, I’d suggest the cafe is OK for coffee but my experience suggests they need to work on their wider service standards where food...
Read moreWhat I loved: Kahawa cafe in Dodoma has better service than the one in Arusha. Some staff here is friendly and attentive, especially the men. The fries are good but the cheese didn’t taste good. however, their beef patty was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Definitely order the burger. I also loved the Dodoma sign in the bricked wall.
Area of improvement : The restaurant itself is okay the decor could be better and the painter they hired could do a better job of painting the place. Also the staff shouldn’t be idle seated in the front of the restaurant on their phones ignoring customers coming in. This has not changed.
Also the wifi needs to be fixed as its uselessly slow. I just ended up using my data instead. Also make sure your ketchup is fresh as the bottles have stayed in the sun for too long leaving a bitter taste to it.
Otherwise, its a good restaurant and...
Read moreUpdated my review July 2024. I've been going to this cafe for more than 5 years now. And despite it being one of the nicest cafes in Dodoma, with a beautiful interior, having WiFi that's relatively good, and good coffee, they do NOT have good food. I've tried more than half their menu cause I go here to work often, burgers, pizza, fish, chicken, sandwiches, etc....I wasn't impressed. I do not recommend their chicken caesar salad and burgers. The salad I've ordered it once, couldn't eat it. The burgers I've given them multiple tries and always disappointing. They have delicious frappe though, and good coffee. The cakes are average too, so don't have high...
