this restaurant is simply the best on the island, I'm not saying that because I've only eaten there, but from the experience of other restaurants.. this was our second time on the island and we've really passed quite a few restaurants, from those from 5-star hotels to other local restaurants and it's simply all good, but mostly tasteless in my opinion... when we read the reviews about Mzuri we said let's try it there and it was our best decision, simply every dish is above average and every dish has spices and it's seasoned perfectly... value for money and the quality is for 10 stars... a lobster cost 20,000 TZS (on the island it ranges from 30,000-70,000) maybe even more and most often you get a rock lobster... you get two whole lobsters or three halves if one whole is quite large plus a side dish... vegetables like the side dish can compete with the meat dishes from the island, how well it is made...you simply have to try it and everything else will fall into the water...the waiting time for the food is not long at all and it is worth every second... my personal opinion is that every time I come to the island, I will drive two hours to the restaurant if I have to just to be there for lunch or dinner... greetings to the head of the kitchen who is also a fisherman (so everything is super fresh) and the rest of the staff......

This is a local restaurant that gives you an authentic vibe of the village culture on the island. The atmosphere was very friendly, waiters and chefs would come to our table to ask about the food and give advice of places to visit/things to do. Nearby is a fish market shops, and fruit stand so you're submerged in the heart of the villages. I ate in restaurants all over Zanzibar but I came here at least once a day because they had the freshest seafood and best service, I...
Read morePLEASE go here if you have a chance!!! I cannot believe the lobster is 20,000TNZ. I got around 5 half pieces and everything was absolutely delicious. Seasoned perfectly and it came with a delicious red sauce that complimented the dish amazingly. The service is great as well, the lobster took some time but every second was worth it. If you are searching for some great seafood in this sleepy fishing village do not let the “no frills” atmosphere stop you!!! This may not be elegant dining but it is perfect for the price and quality that it is. I wish I came...
