I had read the reviews and went with a pretty high expectation. As it turns out, the steaks weren’t great. All steaks are frozen, even the so-called 30-day dry-aged beef. Choices were more limited than what are on the menu.

A little disappointed with steaks, we went with the beef ribs bourguignon. What we got was anything but beef bourguignon. As you can see from the photo, there was little to no sauce. The beef rib was falling-off-the-bone tender which was nice, but without the sauce the dish wasn’t very tasty

We had much better luck with grilled beef tongue which was fragrant and just perfectly done. The picked yolk sauce was rich and tasty. Pickled wasabi sauce was also a nice match with the beef tongue.

Another good dish was stir-fried beef with holy basils (Phad Kaprao).

The service and the atmosphere was good. There was live music when we were there

Overall, i would not recommend this place to any friends who are particular about their beef. Other dishes...

5 of us from Bangkok went to Ayutthaya for lunch at X Beef today. I was lucky that I didn’t set any expectation.

Let me give option on each dish here: Grilled beef with “Jaew” (Thai dipping sauce in north-eastern style) 129 THB - I was surprised on how hard, cold and thin they are, like you’re chewing rubber band! Buttery fried corn and bacon 79 THB - This is the best dish today. Served hot, nice smell and taste. Highly recommend if you’re here :) Australian Tenderloin Steak (285 THB/100 grams) - Two steaks were overcooked (medium-rare medium-well done) Australian Ribeye Steak (195 THB/100 grams) - All 3 steaks were overcooked, one of them was the worst, super well done.

Conclusion: Price, ingredient quality, freshness and service are good. Chef was offering to replace one of the dish for us but we said no. How the beef are cooked? - a big improvement is needed urgently if you wanted to be in...
