From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the unmistakable aroma of fresh seafood grilling over hot charcoal. The setting is casual and laid-back, with a bustling atmosphere that adds to the charm. It’s clear this place is loved by locals, which is always a good sign.

We started with the grilled river prawns — massive, juicy, and perfectly charred, with a natural sweetness that needed no sauce (though the spicy seafood dip was excellent). The crab was another standout, with firm, flavorful meat that cracked open easily and was clearly just out of the water. The steamed fish with lime and chili packed a zesty punch, balancing the heat beautifully.

What truly sets Ja Ao apart is the freshness of their ingredients. You can taste the ocean in every bite. Everything was cooked to perfection, from the crispy fried squid to the plump cockles.

There are lots of seafood restaurants along the Thantalay road, this restaurant outshines others by the prices performance ratio as they offers tasty foods with reasonable price. The service here is good as well. Don't expect nice decoration at this premise of comparing to other restaurants nearby. Probably the best one on a long strip of seafood places. At least I am told so. I only tried around 3 other restaurants in the area but we settled for Jaoo when ever in the mood for affordable and really fresh seafood. Steamed fish, prawns, crab meat and vegetables.
