Wow! What a nice find!
This is a small family-owned and operated (for 26 years) restaurant in an open-air setting in a gated community with greenery and water features in abundance.
It's right off the western circle highway (121) and easy to find as long as the guardhouse at the entry of the area doesn't throw you off. Just tell the guard you're heading to Asama, you'll have no issues at all.
My wife and I had the Thursday special, which was tumeric rice, deep fried fish (think fish-n-chips), and soup. The food was fresh, the fish cooked just right (the coating was crisp, the fish not oily and not overdone), the rice was really nice with "just so" spices, and the soup was surprisingly delicious (given that it was clear). The whole meal (each) was 90 baht, quite a good price for obviously hand-made and cooked-to-order food in a wonderful setting.
They also have a small enclosed area that's the coffee shop but it's really not a go-in-and-sit-down place, it's intended to service the restaurant seating and the outdoor seating near the coffee shop. I had an iced coffee that was really nicely done (not bitter).
As mentioned, the restaurant is open-air. One end is enclosed for the kitchen and the clean bathrooms, the rest of the area is surrounded by a short wall and substantial (real) roof, and there are plenty of fans. Even with the outside temperature hovering around 34C, it was nice and cool at our table.
The menu is mainly in Thai but has photos and English subtitles. The family member that acts as the waiter and "head guy" speaks very good English, so no problems if you have questions and don't speak Thai (and do speak some English).
The reader board (black board) listed (in Thai and English) yummy things like Carrot Cake, Mango Cheesecake, Scones and Berry Jam, and a few other delectables. By the time we finished our soup, fish, and rice, we didn't have room for desert but I'm going to head back there at mid-morning soon to sample a hot espresso drink and a pastry!
I think the trip to Asama is well worth the effort. It's in a wonderful setting, with a very nice staff, great food, and affordable pricing; that's a difficult...
Read moreI went to this coffee shop at 3 pm on Tuesday. The shop was open as usual. But there were 2 people cutting the grass continuously today.
The coffee shop is very noisy, with outdoor space and indoor spaces (the noise is even mixed with music).
We bought 2 Gravity coffees and 1 cake, a total of 300 baht. The price is not cheap compared to the average price.
But we expected a nice space as we viewed it on Google Maps. However, if the place is noisy like that, I don't think it's worth this price.
They should cut grass after closing hours, or close for 1 day or a few hours to mow the lawn. The cafe not only sells coffee but also sells space to customers.
When we ordered, no staff warned us in advance about the fact that they were cutting the grass and whether we agreed to this noise or not.
I am completely unhappy and dissatisfied with today's experience at the cafe. I hope they will improve their...
