The Higher Room (Veranda) — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

The surrounds here are very impressive indeed and I absolutely love the James Bond vibes but for now I'm reviewing the food and service. I had lunch by the pool yesterday and the grilled chicken salad was about as rubbery and over cooked as it gets. I would have believed the waiter if he apologized and told me they served me a plastic display version of the dish by mistake.

I tried it, just to be sure, and sent it back. A little later I was given another chicken salad which had one piece of freshly cooked chicken and three pieces of (what seemed like) the uneaten ones from my original serving. Obviously I didn't eat this either because it was inedible and, frankly, a bit of an insult.

This would all be water under a bridge if I hadn't just found the receipt in my pocket and noticed that I was charged for two grilled chicken salads that I didn't eat, and a cappuccino which was good. Absolutely ridiculous conduct from a purportedly high end resort.

Obviously I should have checked this at the time but my friends were eager to leave after lunch...

I really enjoyed my lunch when we were services by Aieu. She was especially patient and helpful, and speaking a little bit of English definitely helped everyone. She made sure to do frequent rounds to see what her guests needed, and wasn't shy to offer recommendations on what's good and what the dishes we had questions about contained. Food quality is definitely top of the game, as we tried both the Khao Sui (curry chicken noodles) and the Fried rice noodles.

Being right by the pool is definitely a huge plus, considering how it's an infinity pool with a clear sunset view. If there's nobody in the pool in the early part of morning, you can also take very nice photos with the still water and reflections of the mountains in...

Superb service with an insanely beautiful view, the food was also delicious. We had a late lunch there, the khaosoi and fried rice noodle that came piping hot! Paired with a beer and serene atmosphere overlooking the pool, it was perfect to chill out. Service was outstanding, the staff were attentive to what we needed and even double checked the spiciness level of the food.
