I've never had tastier and more homely Thai food throughout my journey in Thailand!! Big Mom's food is prepared by a caring lovely lady who enjoys cooking. We tried various dishes across the menu and everything was absolutely delicious. It is a newly opened small joint(for now), the food quantity is superb as well. It was a good secret spot for us to have food at since we wanted a peaceful vibe with local food, and the bigger restaurants takes away from vibe of the island. We ate at Big Mom’s several times during our stay in Koh Lanta over a 2 week period and the food was some of the best on the island we experienced. This is not resort style Thai food, but a home cooked meal. Don’t expect your food to be on the table in minutes as you can tell Big Mom makes everything from scratch and the results are in the flavour. We asked her if she does Chicken Satay which was not on the menu, and she didn’t hesitate in making the dish for us. Once we tasted her satay sauce this was ordered each time we visited. Big Mom is a mom with a big heart! She prepared for us a delicious mango juice and an awesome ice tea! We ate a pad thai and a massaman curry and they were delicious and big portions. Once we have finished our meals and she finished herstuff in the kitchen, she came and talked to us as if we were her own children. She gave us some advice about visiting the Laanta festival and about the island.
