If you are looking for a truly unforgettable and romantic dining experience in Koh Samui, this is a MUST GO, I repeat a MUST GO. The ratings obviously do not reflect the true nature of this experience, because I personally believe it should totally be in the top 5 restaurants of Bophut and top 10 restaurants in all of Koh Samui.
Food: The food was surprisingly delicious and presented beautifully as well. Given we are in Thailand and sitting with a 270 degree view of the ocean, the food was above what was expected. They have set course meals, you just need to select how many courses you'd like and there are 2-3 choices for each course. Highly recommend.
Location: Situated in the most northeast tip of Koh Samui. The restaurant is within the Six Sense Spa Resort. Take a taxi and go to Six Sense Spa Resort even if you are not a hotel guest there. Don't worry about the location being slightly remote and far, the restaurants does not advertise this, but they do offer you a complimentary taxi after your meal that brings you back to your hotel in Koh Samui. Highly recommend calling to book a reservation in which case they will ask for your hotel and room number for this exact purpose. After the truly romantic and memorable dining experience, I was completely speechless when the friendly staff told me a complimentary taxi is ready to take us back to our hotel.
Key Takeaway: MUST GO in Koh Samui. Call to reserve. Recommend going right when the restaurants open around the...
Read moreWe were a group of five dining at Dining on the Rocks in Koh Samui, and overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially given its reputation and price. The location within Six Senses Hotel is nice, and the golf cart ride up to the restaurant is a cute touch, but we arrived at 7 PM when it was already dark, and due to minimal lighting, we couldn’t see any of the view — so if you're going, make sure it's before sunset. The staff were welcoming and explained the set menu concept well, but the food was far from impressive. We had the 4-course menu: the lobster starter had a decent sauce but the lobster itself was tasteless and oddly crunchy; the shrimp starter included just one shrimp and was underwhelming; the risotto with calamari was the best dish of the night, but still not exceptional. For the main course, the wagyu was soft but not particularly flavorful, and the lamb was below average. Desserts were forgettable — the fondant was standard, and the coconut-based one lacked any appeal. What made the experience even worse was the 20-minute wait between each course — it felt like they were intentionally stalling to make you full without actually serving much food, which is something I’ve never experienced in any proper luxury set-menu dining. At around 4,000 THB per person, the experience doesn’t even come close to justifying the price. Out of all our meals in Koh Samui during a five-day stay, this was sadly the least enjoyable, and I wouldn’t recommend it — there are far better, more meaningful dining experiences...
