If you ever wondered what it’s like to eat 5-star food right next to a 2-lane road, welcome to ไต๋กิ๊ก เมี่ยงปลาเผา – where the traffic might be loud, but the flavors scream louder!

Tucked away like a local secret (seriously, I passed it twice and thought it was a scooter repair shop), this place is mostly visited by Thais – which is always a very good sign when you’re on a flavor mission in Thailand.

Let’s talk food: sensationell! The mixed vegetables – ผัดผักรวม – were perfectly cooked, crispy yet tender, like they’d been individually massaged by a vegetable whisperer. The grilled fish? So fresh it almost swam back to the table. And the sauces? Ooh là là—or should I say โอ้โห!

The service was just as warm as the food. Smiles everywhere, friendly staff who even helped us pronounce the menu items without laughing (too hard). Felt like dining at your Thai auntie’s house, if your auntie was a culinary wizard with secret recipes and a wok blessed by Buddha himself.

Highly recommend this spot! Don’t let the location fool you – good food doesn’t need a beach view, sometimes it just needs a wok, some fish, and a lot of love.

I discovered this place on my last trip 3 years ago and it’s still here. I ate here twice a day for a full month because after trying countless other places on the island, nothing even came close to the quality, taste, and value of this spot. Every meal was consistently delicious, fresh, and worth every baht.

Must-Order Dishes: Papaya Salad– Perfectly balanced, spicy, tangy, and crunchy. BBQ Chicken Skewers– Juicy, smoky, and packed with flavor. Grilled Chicken Legs & Thighs – Crispy skin, tender meat, and amazing marinade. Grilled Fish – The absolute BEST on the island—fresh, and seasoned to perfection.

Why This Place Stands Out: Incredible Quality– Every dish is made with care, they have like 6 cooks in the kitchen at least. Reasonable Prices– You get way more than what you pay for. Cheerful Staff – Friendly service that makes you feel welcome.

I came and saw there was only 1 fish left on the grill. So I ordered grilled fish with papaya salad from the staff (girl).

Waited 15 minutes and saw my order being packed. Girl waived at me that my order was ready and was about to hand over to me untill the boss/manager intervened and said something to the girl. The girl looks confused.

The manager came to me to say they have forgotten an fish order from another customer...?! And I should come back tomorrow?! I don't know if this is true but why let me waited for 15 minutes and say this and don't offer something in return (example discount) for being sorry for the situation.

Feels like they don't treat every customer (take out & dine in) the same and don't solve the issue correctly.

So be careful when you make an order. The manager could decides to prioritize another customer (maybe without you knowing)

Don't know how he would think or feel when this happens...
