The reviews don't mention anything about Chomtawan Sunset Bar being on the Ritz Carlton compound. My friend and I were staying up the road at the Sofitel and took a taxi over to Phulay Bay. I gather there was a private event going on and the property was not open to outside guests. There was no signage or anything to communicate this. We walked onto the property and were approached by security after some time while looking for the bar. They informed us the bar area wasn't open and it was clear we had to leave the grounds. It had become dark and we asked if we could go through the property to the main highway. The Ritz staff had instructed the security guard to escort us to the road, but instead he walked us to another beach entrance and pointed us in the same direction we came. He just had this blank look on his face. We could have just as easy walked down to the beach from where we were, but instead followed this security person for no reason. We later walked down a dark road with no shoulder because of this security members refusing to escort us a very short distance to the main road entrance. This experience was uncomfortable and we seemed to be portrayed more as trespassers than someone visiting the bar.
