Indian Flavours - Authentic Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Krabi Province

We had the pleasure of dining at a new and promising Kolkata Bengali restaurant in Ao Nang, Krabi. As the only Bengali dining option in the area, it stands out as a unique culinary experience. While still catching up with some of the competition with Indian restaurants scattered everywhere (not all are good btw), this restaurant shows great potential.

The food was good and brought back the comforting flavors of Bengal, though there’s some room for improvement. Authentic Bengali cuisine is hard to replicate outside India due to the lack of easily available Indian spices and ingredients in Thailand, so it’s understandable that bringing out the true flavors can be challenging. That said, the hardworking team truly makes an effort to deliver an authentic experience, which is commendable.

The menu included popular dishes like kosha mangsho and luchi, but I would have loved to see more Bengali staples to deepen the authentic appeal. However, I understand the need to balance the menu to cater to a wider audience.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ While visiting Krabi(Thailand), we were looking for a break from Thai food and came across The Kolkata Kitchen — and what a delightful discovery it was!

We requested a customized Bengali meal, and the team went out of their way to serve us exactly what we were craving: basmati rice, alu chokha, musur daal, and a boiled egg. It was simple, soulful, and incredibly satisfying — just like a comforting meal at home. The alu chokha was mashed to perfection with the right touch of mustard oil and green chili, and the dal had a light, homely flavor that paired beautifully with the rice.

The staff were kind, understanding, and happy to tailor the menu based on our request, which we really appreciated. The ambiance is cozy and clean, and the overall experience left us feeling refreshed and happy.

Absolutely Delightful Indian Cuisine in Thailand! I was blown away by the flavors here – every dish tasted authentic, rich, and perfectly spiced, just like back home in India.
