Northern Soul Riverside BBQ — Restaurant in Mae Hong Son Province

My partner and I stopped by to do some work and have coffee/food. The photos online were a bit misleading, as the cafe is basically in a resort reception however there was a view over a little stream, which was still quite nice.

Coffees were great (oat latte and americano) and the atmosphere was really nice to get some work done.

Unfortunately the food just isn't it. I ordered the sea bass rice soup which was decent, but nothing special for the 160bht price tag. My partner on the other hand had probably the worst eggs benedict of his life lol. The english muffin was stale, poached eggs were overcooked, the sauce wasn't emulsified and was watery, and they also don't provide knives? It was quite funny seeing him try to eat his food with a fork and spoon though 😂

I'd come back for coffee and chill vibes but definitely wouldn't order...

Spectacular experience all around. The outdoor seating area is by the river and green plantation. It will make you drop your phone and marvel at the view.

The food is the best in class. Right from the presentation to the taste, I've had my best Khao Soi Chicken here. The chicken was so well cooked that I didn't have to struggle to break it from the bone. The spices did their magic too.

The closest I can compare their Khao Soi is with the Konkani cuisine in Maharashtra.

The service was great as well, polite staff. And it's an ideal place for coworking with over 50 Mbps of WiFi.

The pictures on google and even on their menu are showing a restaurant at the river side, while there is nothing there, and you are actually just sitting at the reception of the hotel.
