Excellent food at Reasonable Price
Cha La is a casual cafe lunch / dining place inside the Mys Hotel.
This place is a must visit for foodie.
We ordered "Wild Mushroom Soup" and "Tuna Crudo" for starters. The soup was creamy and aromatic, but it was the Tuna dish that got our mouth singing. The quality of the japneses bluefin tuna was top notched. The tuna cut was somewhere between Akami and Chutoro and seasoned with Orange segments, green olive, and soy yuzu dressing. A must try.
For main, we had grill galic lamp chop and beef wellington. We let the chef decide the level of cooking on the meat, and it was the right choice. Lamp chop was cooked medium, juicy pink on the inside, and a good char on the outside. The tenderloin inside the Beef wellington was meduim rare, and it was really soft and juicy. The pastry and duxelle were also excellent.
The dessert was beautifully presented. Tiramisu was yummy but was a bit on the dry side, but the sticky quince pudding was really good.
Overall, this place offers great food, good value for money, and good service. (This place is not meant to be a fine dining but a casual cafe style, so do not expect hawk eyes all attentive kind of service but staffs are friendly...
Read moreWe traveled all the way from Bangkok to try this restaurant after being impressed by the glowing reviews, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We ordered three wagyu beef burgers, hoping for something special. Arriving early, we expected prompt service, but all the guests who came after us received their dishes first. After waiting for almost an hour, our burgers finally arrived, only to be overcooked to the point of being inedibleâlike shoe soles.
We asked the waiter for replacements, and he told us it would take 5-7 minutes. However, after waiting another 20 minutes, nothing came. In total, we spent almost 1.5 hours in the restaurant without receiving a proper meal. Disheartened, we asked for the bill for the soda we drank, but to our surprise, the waiter insisted we pay for the burgers they were supposedly going to give us to take away.
For a place that charges 600 baht per burger and can't even cook them properly, it's a real shame. I don't understand how this restaurant has such great reviews. It doesn't even deserve one star, and our entire evening was ruined....
Read moreOne of the major gripes I have as an American living in Thailand is that Western food consistently sucks here. Very happy for this to restaurant to blow that expectation apart.
The restaurant serves a nice mix of classical Western dishes, including a flawless beef wellington, and others with a tropical twist, like the scallops in Pak Chong sourced corn soup. In fact, the lamb chops in clove-infused sauce remain the best I've ever had the world over. Dishes are all beautifully served and made from top-notch ingredients.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for Western fine-dining with a dash of local flavors from a...
