There is a Wongnai endorsement I saw as I entered, must be something good then, I thought. But, to each his own, some of those accredited venues my taste buds just do not agree with. While most at Brown Sugar are here for their delicious looking pizza and really fanciful desserts, I was here and innocently ordered Prawn Fried Rice. Do not underestimate the power of the humble fried rice like I did. I was not expecting the full robust wok hei of Cantonese intense fire cooking, but it hit me like a freight train. When the first spoonful glazed my palate, my soul was drawn out by some enigmatic forces and propelled into the clouds. No, that Wongnai fizzy hair dark guy table slam did not follow. I was in white heaven, running slow motion in my white boxers among the clouds. Mouth munching fried rice and eyes tearing with delight among endless rows of vibrant Ratchaphruek flowers. It was like a sanitary pad advertisement gone wrong. Seriously… modest looking fried rice, miss out, you must not. Delight you will find, if the Prawn Fried Rice you ordered. Unlike other restaurants that normally overuse frozen underaged little prawns that likely is from Makro, here, 2 sizable fresh market prawns. Sweat is the meat you find. And my wife, she ordered from the opposite end of the world, porkchop with a side serving of spaghetti. Again, it was an astonishing dish I did not expect. Restaurants are either good with the east, or the west. And when they try to house both, it is usually a culinary disaster. But here, by some sheer luck, or they are just really good, we had one best porkchop we ever tasted in our many dining experiences. Succulently cooked to perfection with the right fatty parts, and with the searing that was spot on. Doused in house mixed sauces which I can only described as mysteriously appetizing. Side spaghetti was well infused with another set of equally delightful flavor. And it was oiled right to give it that smooth slick slurpable texture. I am just amazed at how Brown Sugar manage to pull these off, especially when their main theme seems to be sweet delectable desserts. That Wongnai accreditation is definitely matching thus. I also had a go at the fish fingers like dish with tamarind sauce. Well…. the presentation was great, the portion was generous, the sauce was sweet with that distinctive hint of tamarind. Just that I wished it was a better fish instead of dory. Dory comes cheap and in abundance. Its like they are born out of thin air and you find them in most restaurant dishes. But the thing about dory is, if you take a fish, put it in a blender with 85% water and then reconstruct it at a molecular level into an item,…. that’s dory. So, its not my favorite. Anyways, I had been here 3 times in a week because the food is just too great, and because I am on a discovery quest. Next up will be the pizza, the Japanese range, the dessert and the variety of beer. One digestive system can’t take it...

A nice place, clean and beautiful, near mrt station, I ordered a 4 cheese pizza, a cesar salad grilled chicken and an ice americano.

This review is from my point of view and I'm not talking about the quality of the food, which is great.

4 cheese pizza: The dough is just like a taco or burrito, crispy, a hint of garlic flavor, and pretty lifeless. The base sauce is some kind of white sauce, very oily, and the taste very similar to the one you can find in carbonara pasta. The cheese is a good amount, and the blend of flavours is where I can say could not enjoy it, and even being the fat guy I am, I left more than the half of it. 4/10

Cesar salad: It was good enough, the dressing a little sweet, but the grilled chicken on it was perfectly cooked, juicy, overall perfect as can it be. I enjoyed it, but it didn't taste like Cesar salad, it was more like a chicken salad with sweet dressing. 7/10

Iced americano: I'm no expert with coffee, but it was way too sour for me, anyway it felt good enough, refreshing and not heavy...

Brown sugar is always be one of the top of my mum’s favorite cafe for almost 10 years now. The cafe is specialty in inspired Japanese, Korean dessert. All I can say is them dessert was top notch!! Our favorite are all kind of bingsu, fresh fruit crepe and the waffles. The food was ok some were good and some were average.

The service might get really slow on weekends and the rush hour especially dinner time (6pm-7pm) but other than that the service was fine. The cashier could have been nicer with a smile but overall was ok.

Restaurant vibe is cozy. Perfect for family and catch up meal with friends.

Ps. I just found out that they do really good, decent hot latte recently. Which very...
