Surf Kitchen Restaurant — Restaurant in Pattaya City

Update - Oct2024. Prices are fine, taste is good. But it seems portion sizes have gotten quite small for the same price. They offer some set menus which are nice, but when it arrives you find everything is like a half portion of what you would expect. Those sets are actually not bad. Small portions, but not a bad price. It just looks like you're getting short-changed when they bring a big soup bowl, that's half full. Or the scoop of rice looks like a half scoop... Seriously 🤣 The food that arrives just does not match the pictures anymore. It seems the dishes are light on meat/veg, but heavy on the sauce, just to cover the bottom of the plate to make it look full. The food is good, but after each time I've been there (maybe 3 times in the past month) recently, I wonder if I'll be going back. Another drawback is the smokers. I don't think I've seen so many smokers in a restaurant in the past 20years.😵‍💫🤢😵

I had standard Thai dishes - Chicken Pad Krapow, Papaya Salad, and Chicken Green Curry. Taste was great on all three. Very rich, silky and flavorful. Not watered down. Great atmosphere. I have eaten there with different thai friends three times over the last month. I brought them to eat there mainly because the location is convenient on the beach and I have seen it being busy, mostly with foreigners ( I do not prefer to eat in restaurants with few or no other customers). In all the occasions my thai friends complained that the food was not tasty. One even told me that 7-11 microwave food is a lot tastier than this ! Most of them left without eating their food and for me that was embarassing. I tried their dishes and they were right. The food I have ordered (thai dishes) was OK but the portions were definitely small. Prices are about 50% higher than similar thai restaurants. The service was OK. We arrived at the restaurant a little hot and wanted to eat inside to be cool with the air conditioning. We asked the waiters if they could put the air conditioning and they asked the owner, she said no. He put us out with fans, that seemed terrible on his part. There were 5 of us and we ordered a plate each plus some things to share among those things we ordered a plate of fries that literally there were 10 frozen potatoes the price 90 baths. We complained because the plate of potatoes was ridiculous and they brought it back with 5 more potatoes.
