Oh god….. I guess it was a bad day at Cantina. As the reviews were good we took a chance and went there a Wednesday night with a couple of friends. It was one of the most horrible and definitely the most expensive place we tried in such a long time …….. Everything from the beginning to the end (even back at the hotel as we felt sick from the meal we had). Service wasn’t very great as they never asked how things were doing or if everything was okay. They kept bringing utensils and empty plate without cleaning the table. Most of the wine we wanted were BO - that can happen but it’s adds up to the bad experience. It’s started with the most hard and dry bread that they complimentary brought us. So much old that it was turning white on the edges. We do not dare trying to guess how old they were. It might be free but still…. We share few things such as beef carpaccio / most bland we ever had / the octopus carpaccio …. I think we would never have octopus ever again as it was such a bad texture, bouncing in the mouth. We also had the clams that was ok but a bit to garlicky (from our taste). Then we share two pasta ; carbonara - terribly salty, We couldn’t finish it - and bolognese wich was ok but my niece is doing a better job at it. And as it was 2 for 1 on the pizza we had piccante special pizza (with try to find the nduja and the picante in it) and Diavola one that could have been good but…. Please can you explain us how and where the margarine cheap butter taste from the dough comes from?? This is where we all decided to stop eating and leave. We felt so sick from the fat and greasy pizza. This so wrong and so far from what authentic and Italian cuisine is; fresh, light and ingredients of quality. Bad experience and apparently nobody cares when they saw our still full plates. I will add a little details here, even if you are proud of the multiples nice and top end bottles you drank and proudly exposed on our face, would you mind clean the shelves sometime?...
Read moreThere is a proverb saying:. in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king' . Cantina is definitely the restaurant that lack the essential, the Italian soul. You feel that nobody understands what is Italian and Mediterranean food is. I am confident nothing is Italian from owners to chefs. And it shows in the ambiance and in your plate. It's everything except Italian and it's easy to come to that conclusion. It didn't start well really at this place we were excited to discover and reviews say nice things. I come to conclusion that reviews mean nothing if people haven't traveled extensively and are real foodies. We got bread,. It was old bread at least from the day before or more. You can't eat. It was first alarm. Some foreigner working there, denied it was old, but I doubt about him knowing what fresh bread means. I asked for parmesan potatoes parsley. Was served uncooked potatoes, nobody wanted to eat them, they were tasteless and insignificant. How they can't even cook property potatoes. The pizza is extremely pricey comparatively to excellent restaurants in sukhumvit or sathorn. But it's insipid and unflavored. I prefer not to talk about the lasagna, the worst I had for ages. I haven't been impressed at all. This place is in an unusual area for Italian restaurants, there is zero competition and most customers seem to be locals. Learned few lessons from this adventure, to forget as soon...
Read moreCantina Italian Kitchen in Ari brings a slice of Italy to Bangkok with its warm, rustic atmosphere and delectable dishes. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by the charming, cozy vibe that makes you feel like you’ve been transported to a quaint Italian village. The wooden tables, dim lighting, and friendly staff create a relaxed dining experience.
The menu offers a wide variety of classic Italian dishes, but the star of the show is their wood-fired pizzas. The crust is perfectly thin and crispy, with generous toppings that burst with flavor. The pasta dishes are equally impressive—cooked al dente and paired with rich, flavorful sauces. Don't miss Vongole
One thing to keep in mind, however, is the parking situation. Parking can be a bit challenging as the nearest lot is about 200 meters away from the restaurant, and the walk can feel inconvenient, especially at night when the area is poorly lit. If you're driving, it’s worth being prepared for this minor inconvenience.
Despite the parking, Cantina Italian Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic, hearty Italian cuisine in a cozy setting. Whether you’re here for a casual dinner with friends or a romantic evening, the food and ambiance are worth the extra walk. Highly...
