Today, we had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened Gary@Sabai Sabai restaurant. As always as a designer, my first observation was the interior design, which featured a charming outdoor dining area adorned with lush green plants and a captivating waterfall in the corner. The ambiance reflected a familiar Thai restaurant aesthetic, simple yet inviting.
Throughout the restaurant, chalkboards displayed the daily specials and the selection of beers and ciders available. The menu itself was an intriguing combination of Thai and British cuisine. Opting for a western dish, I chose the Mac and Cheese with bacon and spinach, while my partner, G, indulged in the liver and bacon served over potatoes. To complement our meal, we shared a serving of shrimp and vegetable tempura.
While my personal preference for heavily seasoned dishes may have influenced my perception, I found the food to be satisfactory. As an American, I may not fully appreciate the subtleties that European patrons might enjoy. However, my partner found the flavors delightful, indicating a successful presentation British influence.
The staff at Gary@Sabai Sabai was exceptional, providing attentive and warm service throughout our visit. To our delight, Chef Gary himself made an appearance, extending a personal greeting and sharing his inspiring culinary journey. This added a personal touch to our dining experience, enhancing our overall satisfaction.
If you have a fondness for British-style cuisine, Gary@Sabai Sabai is undoubtedly the place to be. The restaurant offers a unique twist by incorporating Thai design elements, with British flavors that will surely appeal to those seeking a European...
Read moreFood was okay we ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas, Pad Krapow Beef and Sun Dried Pork and garlic bread.
Fish and chips was pretty good, homemade chips were great and fish was really good the only disappointing thing was no mushy peas and we had to settle for standard peas.Good sized portion also.
Sun Dried pork was good better than some other places we have tried less fat and more meat. Very tasty.
Pad Krapow was okay unfortunately a lot of the Thai menu wasn’t available which was disappointing as half of our dining party was Thai.
Overall the food was good, the service could be improved slightly as we sat with empty plates on the table for over 10 minutes and the Garlic bread turned up after the meal although we were not charged for the bread. A lot of items were not available from the Thai menu and obviously we didn’t get our order in regards to the mushy peas, all of which was disappointing and could do with improvement.
Worth a visit if your in the neighborhood FYI they also do a lot of daily specials, let’s hope things improve a little and next visit let’s hope they have things i stock that are...
Read moreMaybe the best massuman curry I have had to date! The curry broth itself was so rich and flavorful. It was chock full of carrots, onions, and peanuts, not to mention huge, delicious chunks of chicken breast. I had a side of steamed rice with it. I am a big eater and I could not finish it. My girlfriend had the pork chop with fried potatoes. The chop was thick and cooked to perfection. I had a taste and it was pretty good. I stole a fried potato off her plate, and that was very nice as well. Table service was alright. We were the only ones seated in the restaurant at the time, and it could have been a tad more attentive. I was also puzzled as to why it took 29 minutes from the time our order was taken until the food arrived at the table. When it finally did arrive, the wait was worth it. But…I wonder how long we would wait with four or five, or even six...
