We went here tonight for the first time. I will not comment on the food or service, only on a billing issue. It’s not something I typically think about but since another reviewer commented favorably on the happy hour I asked how it works. The waitress could not explain it so a manager came over and did. She said it’s buy one get one free. She said I don’t need to buy them both at the same time. I can finish my first one and then order my second. My wife ordered a non-alcoholic drink. When the check came, I was surprised to see that they charged my wife’s non-alcoholic drink as my “free” drink so the next one I ordered for me was charged full price. You can see where this is going. My wife’s non-alcoholic drinks were free and my cocktails were not. The waiter said it’s all part of “the billing system”. Is this how Buy one get one free happy hours typically bill? Is there another way we should have done this? It’s not a big deal but I did spend a couple of thousand baht, including take away food and felt like we had been cheated. Either way we won’t be going back. Clearly that is not how the manager explained it to me. FWIW I also noticed the drinks on the BOGO menu were more expensive than the exact same drinks on the...
Read moreComplaining on a very hig level here, but I wasn’t all that impressed with the food here. Massive massive fan of Evason, but The Bar was not as impressive. Tried a curry, one of their international dishes and the burgers. The curry was ok, the international vegetable dish very bland, basically just steamed veggies and some turmeric, and the burger looked good and I’m sure the meat is good quality, but it was dry and lacking flavour. Didn’t want to have to dip it into ketchup, but had to because it was too dry. The chips are great. Price is high, but that’s to be expected, so all good. Drinks were hit & miss. One was great, the other one, some sort of cuba libre, was basically just Coke. Expensive coke.
Service is fine, live music too loud, atmosphere is great, nice open place with a cozy...
Read moreI tried this place twice just to give it the benefit of doubt. It sucked both times.
The seabass is 400 baht but the fish is clearly not fresh, and for a restaurant across the street from a sea, that's just not OK.
The veg spring rolls are 200 baht but they are clearly frozen Macro just reheated. Such a rip off.
The crab spring rolls have ZERO flavor, just completely bland. Like eating grass.
The wine by the glass is the cheapest variety. Even the watermelon juice is sub par. Can this place get anything right?
The service staff are OK at best, but they are just chat amongst themselves, socialize, and just unprofessional for a restaurant with these kinds of prices.
The ambience is nice but...
