Delicious food, but unfortunately not vegan (as I said).
I would love to give the Tandoori Nights restaurant 5 stars because the food was really delicious.
However, as I am dependent on vegan food due to a food intolerance and also have health problems when using non-vegan ingredients (such as butter, milk, etc.), we asked before we ordered whether it is also possible to prepare certain dishes in vegan. This was confirmed to us immediately. Nevertheless, we asked again for all dishes (eggplant masala, paratha, vegetable salad) whether they could really be made vegan. Everything was confirmed immediately, so we were really looking forward to the food.
It was also really delicious, the eggplant masala in particular had an excellent consistency and everything was very well seasoned.
Unfortunately, after the meal it turned out that it was not vegan as promised. I got a terrible stomach ache, one of the typical complaints when I eat something that is not vegan.
It would be quite different if they simply said they weren't sure if it was vegan or if it couldn't be prepared vegan.
So although we had a delicious Indian dinner, we feel misunderstood and misadvised.
That's why I'm ambivalent. The food was good, so I would recommend Tandoori Nights to others. However, due to the incorrect advice regarding food intolerances, I cannot do so unconditionally with a clear conscience. What is "tolerable discomfort" for me can unfortunately be worse for people with more severe allergic reactions.
So it's 3 stars for the food because it was delicious but they didn't prepare it vegan, as...
Read moreAs an Indian living in Phuket, I've got to say that Tandoori Knights is a restaurant that I'll frequent almost every month!
Their food is actually Indian and very very close to the real deal. Yes, they have altered the food a little bit to cater to the global audience that they receive, but it's still almost as good as the flavours back home!
The restaurant is a small and cosy setup, but nothing too fancy in terms of interiors, but honestly, once you bite into th le delicious food, none of that matters.
The service is fairly quick, the wait staff is friendly and helpful. They even pronounce the names of the dishes the right way! Kudos to that!
They have a menu as thick as a novel, but well explained detailed information for those who don't know their way around Indian cuisine. They also have different spice levels for each dish, so that you can still enjoy the flavours without having your mouth on fire!
There are plenty of vegetarian options as well to choose from.
The breads are almost accurate to the original Indian preparation, however the butter (slightly sweetened) they use on it killed the authenticity of the bread. Also, roomali roti was nothing like it was supposed to be. So just make sure you mention you don't want butter if you want to taste it the way it should taste.
A vegetarian meal for three people, with appetizers and three mains and breads costed us 750 baht! I'd say that's a great deal for Thai prices.
Fun fact: Tandoori Knights is a Thai owned restaurant, and still knocks down the competition with regards to flavour,...
Read moreAs a British Punjabi Indian! I approve of their food! It’s authentic, genuine, fresh and tasty. The chef is Nepalese, the staff are super friendly, polite and know how to cater to your needs.
A message specifically for Americans, English and Australians. Please try the food if you love Indian food, they won’t disappoint!
For the Thai people, if you’ve had a bad experience with Indian food, please give them a try. Speak to them about the flavours your enjoy and the spice level.
Medium spice caters for all, going slightly more is fine. No need to go extra and blow your minds, it’s about the flavour and richness.
We had the popaadams, the tandoori chicken and lamb tikka starter. The karahi chicken curry and butter naans. They were all 10/10!
If I’m back again next year, they are on my radar. Thank you to the team at...
