A Trendy Café with a Great Vibe

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this ultra-modern café, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was nothing short of fantastic, offering a beautiful and contemporary setting that instantly put me in a positive mood.

The café's design is top-notch, making it the perfect spot to unwind, catch up with friends, or even get some work done. The ambiance alone is a reason to visit.

Now, when it comes to the coffee, while I would rate it a 3 out of 5, the overall experience made up for it. The coffee, though not exceptional, was still enjoyable and complemented the café's trendy vibe. Plus, they offer a range of other beverages and snacks that can easily make up for any coffee preferences.

The place was a beautifully decked out old style Sino-portuguese property with creative menus and art space upstairs. Popular among locals and tourists. Would've given the place five stars but for what I would normally consider unacceptable for a place of this quality, withholding judgment for my next visit which I hope owners would act on this feedback...visited in the afternoon ordered carrot cake and peppermint tea, Carrot Cake was rock solid on one side, soft and moist on the other..the gooseberry on top had a black spot underneath, hidden beneath, it was going bad. My guess, this cake had sat out beyond its expiry and air (and fungi) had gotten to it. The restaurant staff offered to change the cake so picked up the Taro Mor Gang cake instead which was delicious, with soft cake and creamy rich morgang and crispy fried shallots and not too sweet. With better marketing and freshly-made cake (or at least, switched out more often), this place could put itself on the tourist...

หลานเอก คอฟฟี่เฮาส์ (Laan Ek Coffeehouse) ตั้งอยู่บนถนนยมจินดา ย่านเมืองเก่าใจกลาง จ.ระยอง บ้านกาแฟกึ่งพิพิธภัณฑ์เพื่อชุมชน มีแนวคิดมาจากการที่ต้องการปรับปรุงอาคารพาณิชย์อายุกว่า 100 ปีมาเป็นร้านกาแฟกึ่งพิพิธภัณฑ์ ซึ่งบอกเลยว่าตึกโบราณหลังนี้ถูกสร้างขึ้นมาเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2456 ในรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมสไตล์ชิโน-โปรตุกีส ถือเป็นอาคารพาณิชย์แห่งแรกประจำเมืองระยองเลยก็ว่าได้

โดยเจ้าของเดิมเป็นชาวจีนไหหลำ ที่อพยพเข้ามาค้าขายพริกไทยและเสื้อผ้าในเมืองระยอง ภายหลัง ตึกหลังนี้ได้รับการถ่ายทอดมาสู่ครอบครัวของคุณเอก พะเนียงทอง และได้ปรับโฉมให้เป็นร้านกาแฟกึ่งแกลลอรี่ศิลปะค่ะ ภายใต้การดูแลโดยลูกหลาน ซึ่งเป็นที่มาของชื่อร้าน “ หลานเอก คอฟฟี่เฮ้าส์ ” แห่งนี้ สำหรับใครที่สงสัยว่าทำไมถึงชื่อร้านว่า..หลานเอก เพียงเพราะ เป็นร้านที่เกิดจากการรวมตัวของหลานๆ ของคุณเอก พะเนียงทอง ที่ได้ร่วมกันทำขึ้นมา ซึ่งภายในร้านยังคงรักษากลิ่นอายและบรรยากาศ เมืองเก่าไว้อย่างครบถ้วน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการตกแต่ง งานศิลป์ หรือ ประวัติศาสตร์ ต่างถูกร้อยเรียงอยู่ภายในตึกหลังนี้แล้วทั้งสิ้น บอกเลยว่าบรรยากาศในร้านดีมากๆ จะเห็นว่าโดยรอบๆของในร้านตกแต่ง สถาปัตยกรรมสไตล์ชิโน-โปรตุกีส ซึ่งเป็นดีไซน์ดั้งเดิมของร้านตั้งแต่สมัย 100 ปีก่อนค่ะ ปัจจุบันได้เน้นรักษาความดั้งเดิมของตัวอาคารนี้เอาไว้ ให้ได้มีความเหมือนสมัยก่อนจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น โดยมองๆไปแล้วเป็นการผสมผสานที่ดี...
