ร้านริมเขื่อนดั้งเดิม(สมุทรสงคราม) — Restaurant in Samut Songkhram Province

If you are in hurry, it may not be a good idea to come to this restaurant. The wait for a table is absurd. I literally waited for almost 2 hours to be seated. And, this was just to be seated and we had to wait for almost another hour to get the foods. The weather was very hot there and a few fans at the restaurant were broken. Everyone is talking about how delicious the steamed eggs are. We were there to try the famous seafood steamed eggs.

Volcano Seafood steamed eggs (ไข่ตุ๋นภูเขาไฟ)

The volcano streamed eggs had a very dramatic entrance. The fire spit out from the chimney of the cooking vessel, like a real volcano was about to erupt. The eggs were bubbling and spilling out. The look was very appealing, but it tasted like overcooked eggs with chewy seafood. It was not what I expected.

Grilled Shrimps

The chef did not season the shrimps (not even salt and pepper) before putting the shrimps on the grill. The taste of the shrimps was very bland and I did not really taste the shrimp flavor.

Steamed crabs

There was not much meat in these crabs, and it maybe due to the molting season? Again, the steamed crabs were bland, and it didn’t have any crab flavor.

Fried fish (ปลากระพงทอดน้ำปลา)

It was just like any other fried fish. If you don’t want the fish to soak in sauce and become one soggy mess, you should ask the server to put the sauce on the side.

One of those blue moon trip (without the kids haa haa haa 🤣) making our way back to BKK, apparently not our first time here.

FOOD: very good 👍with fresh and good quality ingredients (on the spicy side please be warned). Good range menu, Food arrived in good time too (must admit we arrived at around 1400, so it was only around 30% full). (9/10).

SERVICE: the young lady was superb, precise and very courteous 😁. (10/10).

FACILITY: typical upcountry restaurant, wooden tables and chairs, this one is a good size (~120 seats) clean enough too. Spacious and being next to the river gives it a good atmosphere too. Plenty of parking is a good bonus. (7.5/10).

PRICE: thumb up twice, 👍👍🤣, not the cheapest but certainly more than value for...

I came to dine at the restaurant today. There were a lot of flies. The food was as delicious as usual, but no one seemed to be taking care of the fly problem, which was worse than usual. I’m not sure if it’s because of leftover food being dumped near the canal beside the restaurant. The restaurant should inform staff not to dispose of food waste...
