We felt like valued customers...... In a city that has everything and more to offer, searching out places for a comfortable evening out there are hundreds of options. So for a place to stand out it has to be good... really good.
My wife and I ( she's Thai) obviously have different preferences, so satisfying both on a meal side is always interesting. Lets start with the menu... which gives a wide variety of options, plus the quality was really good, so you're never get bored even after you 50th visit. She really liked her meal now happy wife on the food aspect and my life is easy.
Drinks, I'm a bit of a traditionalist from the UK, so I like my old fashion British beers or like so a home brew IPA ( which is a real IPA ) not some modern fancy alternative went down well as did a type of black and tan....
Service friendly, helpful and quick.... what more can a customer ask for?
Comfort.... good, nice wooden chairs, either normal carver like or high stools both with backs, and even sofa's on the Bistro level. Its a really nice place, well decorated on 3 levels.. The top floor open air roof garden looks great for those lazy nights.
Cutlery.... good solid quality and clean.
There is a nice atmosphere or conversation about the place, and plenty of TV's on several floors if you are sports minded. Again staff will key in you preference for you or get you a table close to what you want to watch.
Parking.... security with a barrier entrance and free. It location means you really do have to drive or get a taxi, but its not that far say 10 minutes from the main area of Sukhumvit, we however travelled from the very north of Bangkok (40 minutes away) and very worth the effort.
It gives a really good impression.
Plus and which noted.. The landlord remind me of an 19th Century London inn keeper and dressed as such waistcoat and all.. top notch, extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
If your just visiting Bangkok, you should take an evening there as part of your itinerary its a bit of Old London with a modern twist.
If you live in Bangkok...... you should already know the place, if you don't then get there soon and enjoy.
Prices..... value for money.... that means you get quality for what you pay for, and you...
Read moreThe manager, Ms.Lucky, isn't the most well-trained, let alone polite. We ordered some items from the kids menu from a waiter (we came with our 4-year-old). After a few minutes, the manager approached us and talked in a rude manner BEFORE the food even arrived that "You're not supposed to share food with your kid. But I'll let you go this time". In other words, she told us never to touch any leftover food from our kid if he can't finish it.
I can understand their policy, but it's not WHAT she said but HOW she said it that upsets us.
Other than her, the rest of the crew are great, Poo, Nok, etc. And we always appreciate their hospitality, not just service.
*Btw, I just learned that Ms. Lucky has been with Londoner for 16+ years (since the previous location, which I frequented a lot in the 90s). For someone who's been here so long, I would expect a little less arrogance/hostility and a much better service mind.
A restaurant review is naturally based on personal experience. It can cover food, atmosphere, hospitality, etc. In this case I opted to provide a snapshot review of your staff's manners on a particular evening, which may or may not reflect her as a human being.
Before you jumped to defend your staff, why don't you do a little investigation? Just because she has done a good job over the years doesn't mean she can never have an off night. After all, you weren't even there, so don't just defensively assume that I had misunderstood what she said. She was speaking Thai and my wife's Thai is perfect while mine is next to native.
It's not in our nature to confront others; that's why we didn't want to escalate the situation by asking for someone with higher authority than the manager. In fact we didn't even say anything back to her while we were stunned by what she said.
I've given you an honest review. Whether or not you want to do anything about it is all up...
Read moreI ordered a vegetarian lasagna. Got a beef instead even though we did point at the pic to make sure nothing would go wrong (the beef version doesn't have a pic in the menu.
Without knowing, I ate it. My religion prohibits me from eating beef. It's as bad as a Muslim eating pork. Unforgivable carelessness!!!
Btw, no need to say "Sorry, we'll be more careful next time!", Alex.
To verify the incident, just ask Nok. July 10, 2019. 20:20:38 Order # 80-56820, Table 205
(Response from the customer: July 13, 2019)
Just to clarify, we picked Lasagna from the vegetarian page by pointing at the pic, not caring whether it's made of tomato or spinach or whatever else. A vegetarian lasagna doesn't have to contain spinach as served in many other restaurants.
The point is when we ordered from the vegetarian section, we would expect ZERO meat in it, let alone beef. It's your professional duty to pay attention to what exactly a customer orders & from which page, especially when they are pointing at a picture on your menu.
And don't say, "next time I suggest you to read the menu more carefully" because then you would be insulting me after having made me violate my religious beliefs. This has nothing to do with the money we paid or a free lasagna on the next visit. You're supposed to re-train your staff instead of bribing me with free...
