The transition from the previous owner, who created a warm and sociable space, to the new owner was a masterstroke. The new owners have revitalized the area’s economy post-pandemic, supported the local community, and hiring staffs displaced by nearby armed conflicts. One of the owners, musician, artist, pioneer, has got the Midas touch bringing back THE MAGIC of the BAYS. The same magic felt when I first step foot there in 2012 kissing the ground as I found the place my soul has revealed to me in a dream. This recent trip showed me the magic is indestructible. It is alive and still here, brave and gentle. มนต์รักเกาะพะงัน for those that knows.
I can see it must be hard for flashbackers reminiscing of “the good old days” holding on to the past with bitter attachments to stare at such new shoots with squinty eyes not seeing very clearly. Those that never lifted a finger, always waited on, soaking in all the flattery from yesteryear. Open your mind’s eyes and let your sulking heart feel, join the dance, join the laughter. It’s still all here for you to flip that frown. I get it. We long for the past like the tragic romantics that we are. There is nothing to fear in moving on dear miserly stared friends.
Bambu Hut Jungle Lounge is a must-visit for a memorable experience. Chill vibe for the week with the best ocean on the island to surf the waves. The Sunday Session music and dance will blow your mind. Come be free. Highly...
Read moreBamboo Huts is the best, both the restaurant and the bungalows.
The restaurant is super cute, the lighting is calming and warm, and they have good music playing all the time (chill dj mixes). The food is the best on this part of the island (literally the best and all the long-term residents know it). The prices are fair, and the team is so kind and helpful. And the view from any table in the restaurant is unbeatable. Order the Pat Cha (fried red snapper with pineapple, cashews, bell peppers, onions, & more). It will blow your mind. The lemon mint shake is also reallllly good. And the Burmese salad is also incredibly delicious and fresh. We stayed in the huts for six days and ate every meal at Bamboo, and tried different dishes all the time, and we always left super content and full and happy.
The huts are standard beach bungalows, no frills, but they’re very cute. Everything is made of wood, unlike some of the other places in Haad Yuan which have tacky furniture on the patios and inside. The scenery around is breathtakingly beautiful lush with greenery, lots of animals and birdsong. The hammock on the porch is super comfortable, and you get a nice sea breeze if you’re lucky. The lighting inside is quite harsh (one bright white lightbulb in the room, one on the porch, and one in the bathroom), so we brought our own mood lighting and made it a little seaside jungle oasis. 500 baht per night. There’s no advanced booking, so just walk up to the reception in the restaurant and request a room. Some rooms have glass windows and others just have hatches that open up without bug screens, so we requested one with windows that would let more light in during the daytime without letting little bugs in. Bugs find their way in anyway, but that’s to be expected. We didn’t get any bites or anything. The mattresses are firm. The fan is powerful. Really cannot recommend this place enough. We really loved our stay here and will forever be grateful to Toto and the rest of the team here for taking such good care of us and letting us join them on this beautiful part of the island. Best place we’ve stayed in...
Read moreFreshly renovated beautiful restaurant with best view! Tasty breakfast, good coffee and fresh juice. What a great day we spent here and such lovely people we danced with, super positive vibes , great music from Acrobat what else to wish. Latest Update. When the sun went down, all has changed. At around 6 pm the security guy and one of the owners /managers of Bambu began the “safety operation”. At first they tried to close the door, cos they don’t want people go out for the fresh air. We begged him not to do it and let us breathe. After that security began to push everyone on the dance floor put their drinks from bottles to the plastic cups, which is completely impossible especially when he put his fingers inside! What a disrespect! We just bought 2 bottles of water, the guy pushed us to poor it into the plastic cups. I can’t really get it. Why you sell glass bottles on the party if it’s not allowed, why ruining peoples mood instead of just selling plastic bottles or put cooler for everyone and let them use for free. Seaboard is a good example. Learn from best. There is literally no space to dance, the dancefloor is super small already and half of it taken by drums and pool table! Guys! Seriously! You invited people to dance but have no idea how to organise safe environment and lovely atmosphere. The front desk of the DJ has sharp corner right in the middle, so, in the crowd people hurting themselves while dancing. When the drummer comes, he turns on very bright red color light, probably to make his performance more effective, but the result is opposite. You can’t see the performers anymore, cos the eyes are so disturbed by that light. And I understand, why there are fights happening at this party, I understand that the security is a must at this kind of place full of drunk tourists (at evening and night time) and I recommend to everyone who want to visit and have real dance fun, do it at the day time, before the “safety operation” starts. The place is very commercial from one side, but organized in a very unprofessional way. Hope this will be improved soon. But right now I took...
