Boat taxi from Haad Rin to Haad Yuan should be no more than 150 - 200 thb each way... Anything more and you should either wait it out for more people or wait till you see a taxi boarding people and get on it. They seem to be more willing to budge on price when there are two or more headed in either direction.
The beach itself is much better and cleaner than Haad Rin for obvious reasons (full-moon party;). The same is still a bit coarse from the shells pulled onto shore; so definitely not the softest sand I have ever laid my feet upon.
Be aware, that there are NO ATMs on this side of the island. So be certain to carry enough cash to get you around, in case you wish to have something to drink or eat. If for some reason you don't have the cash to get back, don't fret; the boat taxi drivers are more than willing to allow you to pay at the other side.
Cool place to get away, but I would suggest you head on a little venture over to the Sanctuary area. There is a great restaurant on that side of the island. Not much of a beach, but pretty cool area and vibe. It's on the way to Eden's, in case you wish to stop there; as well.
Quick Tips: Most boat taxi's will run into sun-down; unless it's a big party, like Saturday night at Edens. There is no need to commit a time for pickup with your current taxi. They will normally always be somewhere there ready to take you over to Haad Rin. Best bet would to walk to the end near Barcelona resort and ask someone at the end. The amount should be the same as it was arriving; which should be in the range of 150 - 250thb.
If you choose to walk the path back instead, it's a 1.5-hour walk back. The best option, if you wish to do it in one direction is to walk there and take the taxi back. As the walk back is a bit tougher than the walk there to Haad Yuan.

Read moreMany people come to Haad Yuan and its neighboring beaches (Haad Thien and Haad Wai Nam) only for parties at night or a quick stop while cruising around the island, but it’s very worth a longer visit if you want a taste of the friendly, calm, affordable paradise Koh Pha Ngan used to be.
I highly recommend Big Blue for budget travelers. Bamboo Huts (now stylized as “Bambü”) has a great restaurant and slightly pricier bungalows. Eden hosts legendary parties once a week; it used to offer lodging as well but hasn’t since Covid. Pariya features more upscale, luxurious bungalows.
Sadly, the once great Barcelona closed down during the pandemic; it’s been taken over and rebranded as “Apsara & Dragon.” Please avoid it at all costs. The manager is one of the most unpleasant, rudest, and greediest people I’ve ever encountered. He’s well known among regulars for his bizarre, unprovoked tantrums and outbursts and for making up ridiculous lies about the other establishments on the beach. His place is extremely overpriced with mediocre food, anyway.
The good news is that all the other resorts on Haad Yuan and the two beaches to the north (which you can reach on foot) remain as...
Read moreHaad Yuan is a picturesque long shore beach with crystal-clear water and soft, white sand, making it perfect for year-round swimming. The beach is also home to several resorts, restaurants, and bars.
One of the most beloved restaurants in Haad Yuan is “Bambu - Jungle Lounge” Located on a rock, it offers stunning views of the bay. The restaurant serves a variety of delectable dishes and drinks, making it a great option any time of the day.
In contrast to the bustling party scene of Haad Rin, Haad Yuan offers a more relaxed atmosphere. However, if you're seeking a complete escape, be aware that the tranquility may be interrupted. On weekends, you can still hear techno beats pulsating through the night from a local establishment.
On Saturdays, Haad Yuan hosts legendary parties at The Eden Bar, which last from evening until morning. Additionally, there are occasional parties on Tuesdays, as well as Sunday parties at Barcelona. These parties are renowned not only on Koh Phangan but also for their incredible atmosphere. Being in this neighborhood allows you to experience the vibrant festival...
