WANG SAI BEACH BAR — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

The Wang Sai Beach bar, located right I. The shore of Mai Haad beach, is a must visit. Having visited on many occasions over many years I always make a point of visiting every time I head to Koh Ma. The coconuts are (recently) some of the most reasonably priced at 80B likewise the beers 100B and curry’s/soups will be in the 100B-300B range. Paying for the location is an inevitability but it’s worth it for sure. All the food tastes exactly as it should - freshly made to order and bursting with flavour. The red Curry was rich with coconut milk and chilli, perfectly complemented by the textures of tofu, sweet potato and carrots. Having just tried the Tom Yum, it certainly did not dissatisfy, it was light, fragrant with galangal and kaffir lime leaves and once more complimented by soft juicy tomato, tofu and mushrooms. A portion of rice is always a welcome addition also. Service can on occasion be a little slow, though seeing how they’re one of the busier bars on the beach this can easily be forgiven. A real holiday pleasure to dine with such a beautiful view and a well manicured beach garden. Very solid...

Mixed experience at this Restaurant near Koh Ma. The ambiance is top-notch, and the staff is super friendly, adding a nice touch to the overall vibe. The scenic view is a definite plus.

However, the disappointment kicked in with the portion sizes, especially the Pad Thai – seriously tiny! It felt more like an appetizer than a main dish. Also, be ready to invest some serious time; the service is on the slower side.

I think that this is by far the best place on the beach to have drinks and food. The service and food are good and the staff is doing their best in serving as soon as possible. Yet it is the Thai way to serve when dishes are ready. So you might find yourself waiting for food while the others at your table are already eating. This is for sure when you are ordering something else than Thai food. Also don’t be in a hurry as things will take some time sometimes....
