"A highly recommended restaurant and culinary school for all to sample truly authentic Thai food".

We dined here three times during our stay. It was my (Tian's) 5th time on koh Chang, and out of all my trips, this was the best food I have ever found. Although we loved all of the dishes, our favourite was definitely the Panang Gai (chicken panang). This is a world famous dish much adored by all, yet few have ever tried one as traditionally representative as can be found at Kati. The owner (pe Ning) explained to us that she and her mother (of whom has created the entire menu from family recipes) wake up early every day to hand roll the pastes from fresh ingredients grown just around the corner from organic and traditional farming techniques. The Panang tasted nuttier than what I was used to, giving me a revelation that the Panang we all know and love is simply mass produced and manufactured. Nowhere else other than Kati, on Koh Chang, will you find such authentic food made with unparalleled love and care. The staff are passionate, and truly a family, yet work together like a tightly wound watch, always teamworking and providing an excellent job. The barman and front of house manager has stayed at Kati for over 16 years, showing just how dedicated everyone is to the restaurant that truly is the definition of a soul kitchen serving soul food.

Our only regret is not trying more of the exquisite handmade gelato. We recommend caramel or coconut, and definitely for a bigger desert - the khao neaw mamuang (mango sticky rice).

The best restaurant on Koh Chang. No question. Ended up going here after we learned that the Blue Lagoon restaurant was closed for renovations and staffing issues, and we were recommended the place by the owner of Blue Lagoon.

Showed up the day before our monthiversary, and were blown away by how good the food was. You are supposed to seat yourself after you enter the restaurant, by the way, and a menu is left out front of the building.

The service here is... slow, but the food and vibe make up for it. Ordered the fried garlic pepper whole snapper (which is caught fresh daily) for a deal of 390 Baht. It was absolutely delicious, and a must-try. My girlfriend ordered the Panang curry for less than 300 Baht, and it was by far the best curry we had in either Bangkok or Koh Chang. Very nutty and super flavorful.

We also ordered the mango sticky rice to split. It couldn't have been any better.

We came back the next day because it was so good, and I ordered the tamarind snapper, which was sweet and slightly spicy, even better than the garlic pepper snapper. My girlfriend ordered the pepper snapper.

We got drinks (good, not great), and a dessert of banana split, which comes with the split banana and a choice of 3 different coconut gelato (made fresh) which is great. Get the chocolate and caramel gelato. Regular coconut tastes odd. Very very good experience. You...

We went here based on reviews and articles. We were not disappointed. The ingredients were fresh, of high quality, and cooked to a high standard with love. The owner was not present at the time, but the male manager and staff were warm and welcoming. My dad enjoyed his conversations with the manager. The price is higher than the standard Thai restaurants, but worth it for the quality in my opinion. (Others will agree or disagree.) We had lunch twice, and covered a cross section of the menu: Somtum Thai, chicken laab, nam tok nuea, pad Thai, stir fried morning glory, spaghetti with tomato sauce, omelet, cellophane noodle shrimp salad, pad see ew, fried chicken with fried lemon grass and garlic, baked scallops with cheese, massaman chicken, and smoothies.

I particularly liked the fried chicken with fried lemon grass and garlic, and would highly recommend. I have not seen fried shredded lemon grass before, maybe it’s common and I am just unaware, but I thought it was innovative and good. The curry was good as well, although I should have asked for it to be more spicy.

Overall I would recommend giving a try, and I...
