I am really surprised how good the reviews are! I came here especially as it was near By The Sea which had live music starting at 8.30pm. I walked in at 7.10pm and ordered about 10 minutes later. I was waiting for my food and at 8.30pm I am told that what I had ordered has fish in and I went through it when ordering that I can’t eat fish… and was told it was fine! All the tofu had run out too… so at 8.30pm I had to quickly order something. In a state of hunger I ordered a Tom Yum and rice which came at 8.55pm that’s 1hr 45 mins after I arrived! It was like fire water. By the time I left, I missed the music and was so hungry I looked around but all the restaurants were closing. It was also expensive for what it was! I’m my eyes for waiting all that time I should have had some discount! In nearly 3 weeks of being on the island I hadn’t been disappointed with the food anywhere apart from tonight! The best meal we have had so far in our time on Koh Mak. Located in a nice garden setting. We arrived early for a dinner here and were quickly served by friendly staff. The menu consists of mostly classic Thai dishes. We sampled five dishes and all were good. I would especially recommend the chicken satay appetizer and the tiger prawns with red curry and coconut milk. Both were better than other versions of these dishes which I have tried elsewhere. We had both dinner and breakfast at Table Tales for two days straight, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was consistently good, but the atmosphere was truly brilliant, especially compared to other places on the island. The staff were all incredibly nice, which made the experience even better. They also have a great bakery, which is a nice bonus. ​While the prices are a bit high, it's worth it given the lack of competition on the island.
