I’m of the firm belief that one must mention the positives and negatives when leaving reviews, but as you can see by the rating above their were far more of the latter that turned this meal into the substance of nightmares.

Now I could not mention this restaurant without commenting on its wonderful setting nestled in the Thai jungle. its decor is very instagrammable and well done. However our seating location as a large party of 9 people was inadequate, we were placed on a table that could’ve maybe seated 6 with loud strong fans within a metre of us, disrupting our dining experience.

Now we move onto the drinks, with an expansive collection I remained hopeful, however the wait was extortionate. We all ordered drinks at 7:10, it was past 8 when all the drinks had arrived, this is simply disgraceful to begin with yet the rest of the evening dampened our spirits even more so.

The menu was okay, covering a collection of western, Japanese and Thai dishes. Being a large group we had ordered from each of the sections. The noodles and rice that we ordered as sides to the mains arrived 15 minutes before the last appetiser was served and before the last of the drinks. One may think this is expected as in a majority of Thai restaurants food is served as it’s made, but if appetisers are offered at least ensure they are served first especially in an upmarket, comparatively expensive restaurant

The mains however were woeful served as late as an hour and a half after ordering, arriving cold, full of bones with no meat, or what looked to be hacked to pieces in the case of the tuna sashimi we ordered. Every single main was completely unpalatable. I’m honestly impressed that this restaurant managed to turn out this poor quality for every single dish. It was as if the chefs were the three monkeys.

At this point, hungry and unprepared to wait another hour for the kitchen to rectify their mistake we got up kindly explained to the waitress that we would not be paying for the mains, however would be prepared to pay for the drinks and starters we ate, we also called for the manager. After a few minutes of apologies with little action taking place we left for the exit, our waitress seeming to take the role of the restaurant manager. Not understanding our queries and growing increasingly rude she came back with the receipt acknowledging the mistakes made in each item as we went down the list, yet still expected us to pay 85% of the price of the mains which is absolutely disgraceful. After some heavy discussion our party got in a van and attempted to leave. Not without the manager/ waitress standing in front of the van blocking it from leaving, to top out an unforgettable experience (for all the wrong reasons).

I cannot express how much i do not recommend this restaurant , three monkeys have ignored good customer service, food and drinks that should be the backbone of such a business. In exchange for a flashy, gimmicky setting. I would urge strongly for anyone reading this to avoid three monkeys at all costs. No wonder they ask for a deposit in advance. I would not be surprised if the many 5 star reviews left here were bots and not...

The place is super nice if it comes to how it looks. That is it. There is a total chaos and I have no idea hos this restaurant is managed. Waiters don't know what they're doing, coming with a plate from the kitchen and asks another waiter where this should go. Service is super slow and every time we wanted sth and wanted a waiter to come we had to wink. They avoid eye contact and even when they hear you they just walk away in front of you (happened to us with 2 waiters) Everything is coming separately to the table and there is like 10 minutes difference between every dishe/drink. We have ordered 2 drinks and a beer and beer came first. Then one drink for my husband so I was sitting there one hair since I came without anything to drink. Then we got one dish - this is not a place where you order starter and a main so dishes should come at the same time especially that we have ordered two meat dishes and two salad dishes which we wanted to eat together.(there was no rice or noodles in the dishes we got). The dishes was spicy so I could not eat it as I didn't even have anything to drink yet. In the end we got everything served except one salad. We were waiting a bit but never came so started to taste what we got. The salad has never come so we asked for å bill and canceled it and then funny think water came to the table and said that he managed to cancel the salad - like he made us a favour. I have graduated hotel and restaurant school and have visit plenty of places. Here there is such a chaos in how it is organized. There is nobody who clean your tables, All the guests were sitting there with table full.of dishes, those who were eating dessert didn't get the table cleaned. Ypu can count who drank what and how much as all the glasses are standing on the table even empty. Tables are not cleared even if the customer is leaving. There is too little staff but also so bad organized and they don't know what to prioritise. There was this waitress looking at the full table and just walked away ...

When we were leaving there was a manager showing the other guests to the table and said thank you, hope your visit was good. My husband said no it wasn't and I shared my head and so no,.but he just walked away instead of trying to find out what happened.

There is many good reviews here and I just don't get why this could be the good...

Honestly, I’m writing this at the request of Jay, I’m a little surprised that I was asked to write a review instead of just addressing my concern at the restaurant but here we are.

Firstly, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Presentation of the food and drinks, top tier.

Things go downhill from here. First I told them it was my birthday, nothing was done. A little disappointed that I came from across the world to do this but it is what it is we move.

The food and drinks, for sake of review I will mentionsome of it 10/10 some of it 4/10 but that’s not what this review is about.

I ordered dessert. The monkey balls. I told the server I don’t like strawberry sauce and asked if I can get chocolate instead he said sure no problem. To my horror, He comes back with strawberry sauce all over my dessert and says “I forgot to tell you there’s no chocolate sauce. I said “but I don’t like strawberry sauce” as I already said when I first ordered it. He proceeds to say, “just try it” I’m like “….okay” the dessert itself is good but it’s ruined to me by strawberry. I call him back and say I’m sorry but I don’t like it. Can I get one without the sauce. He says let me talk to the kitchen.

He comes back, brings the dessert with chocolate sauce which I was excited about because he found it. Only to realize they just wiped off the sauce off the dessert, and put chocolate sauce. So now it’s cold, my ice cream is melted and it still taste like strawberries sauce. Obviously I didn’t eat it. I told him there’s still strawberry sauce on it. He laughs and proceeds to give me the bill with the dessert on it. I didn’t want to seem confrontational as someone of colour so I paid and still tipped on top of the service fee they already have. But as I was waiting for my ride it didn’t sit right with me. The supervisor had already left.i brought my concern to Jay and he apologized but told me to write a review and next time i come they’ll take care of it. I told him I live in Canada, and with a few days left, I wouldn’t be coming back lol he apologized nonetheless, but I wish they would’ve just fixed it at the restaurant instead of telling me to write a review because I didn’t want to leave a negative response on public forum...

I normally don’t write reviews, but the experience was so bad that I felt compelled to do so. I want to start by saying that we went to Three Monkey to celebrate a friend’s 30th birthday. Our experience was beyond terrible. We booked a reservation for a birthday mini celebration. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated at the wrong table. It was supposed to be one of the special "nest" tables they offer for birthday celebrations. As we were getting our food, a manager showed up and told us we were at the wrong table. She moved the birthday balloons from the seat we were originally supposed to be at; to the seat we were seated to. She didn’t attempt to move us to the correct location. Worst of all, they sang "Happy Birthday" to the group sitting at our original table and gave them the birthday surprise. We sat at the wrong table for over an hour after eating, and not a single server came to check on us. I personally had to walk up to the cashier to ask for service. When I asked for the bill, they then realized we had reserved for a birthday mini. We spoke to the two managers working on 02/18/2025 and told them we no longer wanted the birthday package and requested they remove the charge. She told us they couldn’t remove the pre-package cost from the bill, despite the fact we had already been sitting there for over an hour. The manager also said, “We can move you to the nest area and do the surprise,” which completely ruined the birthday surprise. Another manager came over and mentioned that they had already done the birthday package (as I mentioned earlier, they provided the birthday service to the group sitting at our original table). We repeated that we just wanted the charge removed and didn’t want any of the surprise. The two managers told us, “One second,” and BOTH of them walked away. Ten minutes later, they did the birthday song and cake surprise—by then, the surprise had already been ruined. We had a party of six, and the “surprise cake” came with only two spoons. It took another 15 minutes for someone to bring us plates and additional spoons. This was a terrible experience and completely ruined the night. I would 1000% not recommend this place for a birthday celebration.

A Distributing Business Model That Undermines Hospitality Three Monkeys is an unfortunate stain on an otherwise stunning island, prioritizing profit over guest experience at every turn. Booking: Securing a reservation was an ordeal. After three phone calls—one instructing me to switch to WhatsApp and two more to remind them to check my messages—I was finally allowed to place a heavy deposit. We specifically requested an outdoor table with a view to welcome elderly family moving to Thailand. Seating: We waited 25 minutes past our scheduled time due to a line for those who reserved and paid in advance. Meanwhile, there was no line for walk-ins who wanted to queue. A South American male host then led my elderly family member, who struggles with mobility, through the entire restaurant and up a hill—despite our prior WhatsApp communication about our situation. When we reached our table, it was in a room, lacked a view, and didn’t even have enough seats for our group. Customer Care: As we debated whether to cram into the unsuitable space, the host took off. When I tracked him down at the front of the restaurant and pointed out a more accessible empty table, he responded with, "Nooo, those are impossible right now." I am still dumbfounded. Instead, he relocated us to the farthest, most isolated section in the restaurant—no music, no view, and barely any lighting. Management: Having worked in F&B, I understand that smaller establishments may not have a reservation management system (RMS), but for a high-revenue venue, this is inexcusable. They clearly have the infrastructure but deliberately manipulate bookings to maximize profit at the guest's expense. Additional Issues: Some cold dishes, small beers that fill half their glass, having to clear our own plates (as I did my best to compensate for my poor decision), insect problems—these would have been minor inconveniences had there been any semblance of guest care. Instead, they reflect a complete disregard for hospitality. I'm not alone, many other reviews echo the same frustrations. Three Monkeys is not just poorly managed; it’s an exploitative operation. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone—not even an enemy.
