Food and coffee are very good. Great selection of daily baked specials. If you're like me and have no patience for slow service, flys, and the occasional never getting your order right, then I'd stay home and make your own breakfast...otherwise it's worth the wait and staying calm for the French toast, the Friends breakfast platter or any of the warm fresh baked Tongan pies. I drool thinking about the papya pie we had yesterday. We went back a couple days later for lunch. Same observation but seemed like more flies. The bbq ribs were subpar. Bbq sauce was flavored ketchup. Not Texan bbq as discribed on the menue. The ribs themselves were boiled and not grilled or smoked and was cold. I wanted to send back and have warmed up butndidnt uave time. Made me sad as I wanted a taste of home. We also had the seafood chowder which was amazing. I would have eaten this chowder everyday for every meal it was so good. It was packed with seafood ie, fish, squid, crab, and thickend with potato and veggies. I've had chowder all over Main, Alaska, and Washington and this chowder hands down beats them all. If you're poly, go with the plantation breakfast. Very good and corned beef is not fatty and greasey. Lastly- the servers are kind and caring. They work hard and are overwhelmed sometimes. Tongans roll in with groups of 4-12. This strains the batista and kitchen to push out orders. Be kind, have...
Read moreWhen we sat there, one of the other guests told us it is the best food on the island. Since this was the first restaurant we went to, and we didn’t like food at all, we truly got concerned about other restaurants. I reviewed other on Tonga too, feel free to check, it was much better culinary experience.
Food: Ota ika - not good. I couldn’t finish it - and I love seafood! I tried in the other places, was much better! 22 TOP Tuna burger - they barely put any tuna inside. Was dry, small and tasteless. 25 TOP
Drinks: This is the story for itself. I ordered a ginger lemon tea, after asking if it is fresh and got confirmation that it is. Ginger was maybe fresh, but you couldn’t even taste it because the lemon they put was not fresh lemon, but from those syrups from the bottle. It tasted horrible. The juice - it is also not fresh. Pay attention on that because if you want a fresh one, you have to specify it.
Service: It was a bit slow, but ok.
Location: Right in the center. You can read some interesting stories about history...
Read moreEvery time we go back to Tonga our kids love to go here for a meal. This time we decided to take their cousins with us for a lovely breakfast. We arrived just before 8 am. We order drinks and then our breakfast. We waited 2 hours the kids were starting to become impatient and one felt asleep. shortly after 11 we got our order. Out of 7 orders we only got two right and my husband didn't even get his food. We were hungry at this time so the kids ate the wrong order that was made because when we told them that wasn't our order they said they can fixes it but it will take another 30 mins. Meanwhile the people that arrives 30 mins ago had their breakfast and it look like ours. It was a really bad experience and they were not owning up to it so I would never go back there again. It use to be lovely and fun to go with our kids their but now we need to find another favourite cafe place. Actually we did. Tupu'anga is a cafe in ma'ufanga that I would recommend to anyone that's visiting...
