Krave — Restaurant in San Fernando

Krave's reputation precedes it as one of the premier Sunday brunch buffet locations in the country. At TT$333 per person (about USD$50) the price reflects that reputation.

The food quality though, sadly, does not. The highlight for me was the salad bar - smoked salmon, shrimp salad, and a couple (cooked) sushi rolls were the best options on the menu.

The tenderloin at their carving station was prepared well done - such a waste of good meat. The entree station included a fish in green sauce that was pretty good. The entree sides seemed uninspired. Vegetables were tasty but overcooked.

Dessert station had a couple ok selections but most of the cake selections tasted like they were made with cake mix and canned frosting. The baklava was a standout. Italian sugar cookies woefully dry and flour-y.

Their bar prices seemed fair to me, maybe a little on the high side but not overly so. If you're ordering top shelf alcohol neat though, you may want to request that the bartender not garnish it. Dark rum does not need a maraschino cherry dropped in. I should also mention the buffet price included two complimentary juice flavours - not fresh squeezed, of course, but complimentary nevertheless.

Their wait staff service is top notch. The gentleman who took care of our table was amazing. At least one full star on this review is for him. Their reservations staff is not so great. Took me three tries - one via whatsapp that was ignored plus two phone calls before I could get my reservation confirmed.

Parking space is also at a premium. Don't be surprised if when you're ready to leave the car park attendants tell you you need to go back inside to wait because another vehicle is parked behind yours. If you can do so safely, park outside if you anticipate needing to make an...

This review is based on Krave's "seafood buffet". We spent close to $5200+. I went there with 13 others to celebrate some birthdays. After discussing with them, this is what we found: Please do not call this a seafood buffet. Frozen seafood does NOT count. I didn't expect to get crab and lobster (come on this is Trinidad, customers never get value for their money) however, I did expect some fresh shrimp. The frozen shrimp was scrawny, it didn't even need deveining. That pasta station was a good 1/10. It tasted like if a 5year old made macaroni and cheese. The frozen seafood that was added into my pasta, some of it was not even coated in the sauce, so I got that 'seafood thawed out watery nasty fresh taste.. disgusting). That Alfredo sauce left much to be desired. Actually, that is not Alfredo. The rest of the items in the buffet were inconsistent. One batch of lamb tasted tender, all other batches were tough. The chicken was tender and tasted decent. The deserts were very good. No complaints here.

I visited Krave some years ago to celebrate a huge accomplishment. I was not impressed then, and after this experience, I will never go back. It is an absolute ripoff. The thought of a restaurant of this caliber willing to put their name of frozen seafood, I am lost for words. Had they just called the buffet a 'dinner buffet' I might have...

My rarely given 5 ⭐️. We went with a party of 8 for Christmas brunch and I was underdressed and on the same note, amazed at the quality of food and how wonderful everyone else was dressed. The drinks “specials” were all sorrel based and to be honest they were not great, I have been drinking sorrel my whole life and a sorrel cocktail at an expensive restaurant did not ring my bell at all, at best they were good. Please leave sorrel for ginger and sorrel will be happy. So that was the bad. Let me see if I can remember what I ate? Chicken in the green sauce was delicious 🤤. Salmon on the baked chips mmmmm darn good. Steam veggie perfect. Lamb tender and juicy. In Jamaica we call this ‘blue drawz’ it’s the corn and raisins wrapped in banana leaf, yes it too was good and I don’t like cornmeal based food. Fried rice as good as it gets, got to go to China 🇨🇳 to get better. Fish in a sauce I believe it was cod, delicious my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I have to apologize to Krave! So Sorry for my family and I for being under dressed in our flip flops and shorts 🙏🏽🙏🏽. Entertainment….
