Recently had lunch here and had an amazing experience. There was ample parking both at the front and the back. We arrived at 1pm and the place wasn't full but as the afternoon went on it, more people arrived. Customer service was good and the food promptly arrived. For starters we had veg spring roles and veg wantons. I am not a fan of spring rolls but this was crunchy and not oily, it was perfect. They also had homemade pepper sauce which was just right. We had Soong's chicken, spicy tofu, vegetable fried rice, Singapore noodles and chunky veg. Everything tasted good. The chicken was tender and delicious. I have eaten tofu before and its ok, but this tofu was tender and juicy and the sauce it came in was great. We had lychee, cheesecake and creme caramel for dessert. I am a big fan of cheesecake but this cheesecake was just ok, maybe it was made with light cream cheese, the flavour wasnt there, but the creme caramel was simply delicious. All in all we had an amazing time in a fabulous restaurant.

Excellent chinese dishes served in beautiful setting, with ornate decor and relaxed vibes. Dishes were prepared well - everything was cooked to perfection and loaded with flavor. The standouts for us were the pepper shrimp, beef in black bean sauce, and the roasted chicken, but we genuinely enjoyed every dish we ordered. It's a little pricey given the portions, but the quality and service more than make up for it. The quality of meat and ingredients used is clearly of a higher standard and service was prompt and attentive. My parents have been coming here since the 80s I beleive, and they said they enjoyed it just as much as they did back then. Happy an institution like this is still around and not just surviving but thriving, as it seems to be a local favourite. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Trinidad and would highly recommend to anyone visiting south.

A couple of friends and I visited this restaurant as we had heard so much about it. We are not from south. We were not aware that reservations were required, however, we were shown to a table inside. No one said to us that we had to leave as the table was reserved. We ordered drinks and food. We were catching up in this lovely decorated place. There were plenty staff around. At 620pm our server took up our plates and dishes. We were not finished. She then told us we could sit in the lounge. It was SOOO RUDE. We were absolutely shocked. We did not stay. We promptly paid and left. I am horrified with this service. If the table was booked we should have been told at the beginning. Restaurants should not rush "paying" patrons. I DO NOT recommend this Restaurant at all. I have dined at many places and this was the worse treatment possible. 😔😖😤😤☹

Ive been dining at this restaurant for years but ive noticed the food still tasting good i mean not as before but still good.I actually started going to this restaurant at the old venue when i was quite young.but the service is terrible.The staff is rude no coutesy at all grabbing the plates from infront of you even when there is still a wanton or two on the plate.There excuse is that they are busy and also i asked the waitress to take a picture of my family and i when the food was brought on the table and she said she cant and kinda screw up her face..I mean it was my birthday and i wanted a memory to keep.I asked the tall thin indian lady to take a photo for us she said im busy and id have to come back but never returned.The other slim african woman grab the plate infront of my sister nearly hitting her face with the plate.I dont care if you all are over booked and have to use the same plates but dont dare grab the plates and fortunately my sister didnt get hit.Plus they made us jumpy we couldnt relax.Great wall had so many nice staff members before.They all definitely need public relation classes.Months before my husband and i were dining there it was a lunchtime this time it wasnt so busy and the staff members started to quarrel in the kitchen area and omg i werent the only one hearing the commotion in the dinning area and obscenity was being used as well.I told the manager and then to return to experience the treatment we got was very distressing.Great wall is a place i loved but the staff really dont make me want to return.However there was a mature indian lady very sweet and welcoming and she was a nice waitress..very helpful and caring.My tip...

As far as Caribbean Chinese food goes, this place is certainly one of the better options. On my trips to Trinidad I've managed to visit this restaurant quite a few times ...and over the years I've found consistency in the quality of food and very friendly service.

👉🏻My Suggestions: 🔹️Calamari 🥡 Great as an Appetizer or as a main dish. Crispy on the outside with a soft bite. Not at all chewy and dry (like alot of other places). The flavour is typical of a Chinese salt and pepper dish with added spice. The spicy🌶 factor can be a bit intense so approach with caution. 🔹️Great Wall Chicken 🍗 A breaded boneless dish that's packed with flavour. Lots of garlic, a hint of spice and a touch of sweetness. 🔹️Duck in Plum Sauce🥣 This one is absolute deliciousness! The caramelized roasted bits on the skin coated in glossy salty sweet sauce ...totally yummy combo. 🔹️Roasted Pork 🥢 Crispy crackly crunchy skin ...need I say more?! 🔹️Phoenix Basket 🥦🍄🫑 A medley of mixed vegetables and seafood in a beautifully presented edible basket. 🔹️Fish in Ginger Garlic Sauce🐟🧄 Unbreaded fish pieces in a savoury ginger garlic sauce. This one is simple and lighter fare.

We had a reservation for 8:30pm and arrived on time. Seating had a delay of 5 minutes . The atmosphere was nice.

However after the 1st waiter took our drinks order, we had to wait more than 30 minutes for the waiter to return and take the food order. The waiter only returned 30 minutes later after I spoke with management about the excessive delays and observing at least 2 other parties arrive more than 15 minutes after us to be attended to and served food and drinks. When the waiteress came to take the order, she was very rude and began to berate me asking why I did not "raise my hand to get their attention or observe how busy the restaurant is". I did not respond and began to give my order since I was extremely hungry. The waitress then further responded in an aggressive tone responding to me "AND !"everytime I said a dish I would like to order. I proceeded to lose my appetite with this type of behavior exhibited towards both my girlfriend and I.

After the waitress left I spoke with management again and told them of the horrible service from the waitress and requested the bill to leave. Management then sent another waitress to my table 15 minutes after and noone apologized. I felt so discriminated and embarrassed. 😔.
