Four times, I've had the pleasure of visiting Bisou and its neighbouring, adjoined coffee shop Noir (you can sit in either and order from either).
As someone who grew up and lives in the East and works in PoS, I was filled with pride to discover that not only did we have a restaurant selling some of the best breakfast and lunch food I've had but was also paired with a coffee shop that roasts, freshly grinds and expertly brews its own coffee. I consider it a credit to the East. The proprietor is a professionally trained pastry chef who has weaponized her craft to produce a varied, changing offering of addictive treats, whether it's brownies, panna cotta, coffee cakes, chocolate cakes, banana bread, dessert squares or some creative treat I can't name.
FOOD I've had one of their flatbreads, their quiche, their classic breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast) and the French Toast.
Although I'm not the biggest fan of French Toast, I indulged a hankering for something sweet and was blown away. They used a high quality brioche loaf slices, made their own whipped cream and garnished it with fresh strawberries. The slices were thick enough to give a full bite but not so much to throw off the crust-to-center ratio. Speaking of crust, this is where they won me over yet again- crispy and golden brown across each face of the bread which was a departure from the all too common offering from other restaurants where it's burnt around the edges and too light in the middle.
I had the quiche with sauteed spinach and sauteed tomatoes which was crisp, filling and flavourful. I appreciated that the quality of the ingredients starred in the dish and were only enhanced in its preparation - The pratfalls of overseasoning or overcooking were avoided. This restaurant and, by extension, its customers is lucky in that the Tunapuna Market is in walking distance. This restaurant does not let that go to waste. The dishes often feature produce whether as garnishing, starring attractions or accompaniments. That market, since I was a child helping my aunts and uncles make market runs, up to the last two years has maintained an offering of prime produce.
All items were prepared fresh and were notably "clean" eats- Even the heavier items such as the flatbreads were never oily or overwhelmingly busy. I was always left full yet never sluggish after a meal.
STAFF The staff seemed enthusiastic about where they worked and I was left with the impression that they personally sought the satisfaction of their customers. I hope their disposition can be maintained through the continued surge in popularity I believe this place will experience the more people discover the gem under their noses.
Very rarely can a restaurant deliver so superbly on each ground, consistently. I've come to learn that nothing is by accident and rather is the product of care, work and attention. As to how they manage to sell such a labour intensive product at such competitive prices, I can't say. Whereas this is cause for happiness as a customer, I am slightly concerned whether it is sustainable. I suggest you go as...
Β Β Β Read moreI can't even rate the food because I never got it. My family and I went one morning to have breakfast and celebrate my mom for her birthday and we got there as the first customer of the day. I don't know if getting there first was an inconvenience to the staff because our server seemed to not care about the persons sitting at our table. However I did happen to notice the difference in treatment when other sets of families started strolling in AFTER us. After proceeding to reluctantly taking our orders, we all waited an hour for DRINKS. I thought to myself maybe it's a 5 of us so maybe that's the reason for the wait but no, others came and went, still nothing for us. Eventually I started running late for somewhere else I had to be where I hoped my presence might be appreciated. So we paid for whatever drinks we got and left, hungry and disappointed. Couldn't help but repeatedly apologise for my mom for making her feel so uncomfortable for her birthday not to mention, she had to go to work on an empty stomach. I won't be returning because this was awful for me but for future customers, please Bisou, be more considerate and get your orders out quicker. I'm also a chef so eggs don't take an hour to...

I especially appreciate that the traditional cocoa tea is served with the sugar on the side so I don't have to use it...it's also quite a decent cup of cocoa "tea" ...and I have tasted some really great ones...this one definitely ranks up there among the best. Kudos to the friendly staff. I ran out forgetting my phone in the process and they immediately secured it for me, to collect upon my return. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area...you have no excuse not to go. They are literally walking distance from UWI and a minute from the corner with the EMR. Hopefully you do get a park somewhere near because it's a small place, they only have 4 spots. Now, about the food selection...if you are grainfree like me , you may find that the best you can get is a salad or a bunless burger...but the salad is very good...so I have no...
