My wife and I spent two weeks based in Monastir for a late summer holiday and near the end we were missing Western food and drink.
We had heard good things about Port El Kantouai from the locals and other holiday makers and decided to visit after already trekking virtually everywhere else.
It was that good that I don't know where to begin. The staff (all local people) were amazing. Exceptionally friendly and welcoming. From the security on the door to the waiters and also the lovely lady in the clothing shop who took our photo they were all polite, and professional and all projected a positive image and are a credit to the franchise. Our waiter, Mr. Walid, looked after us and no request was too much trouble for him. Ask for him and you won't be disappointed. While we were diving into our scrumptious food with reckless abandon, the Manager came over and introduced himself and asked if we were satisfied with the food and also the service. I'm not sure if this is only a Western practice but it is the only time this happened on our two week stay and we ate out frequently despite being full board at our hotel.
The restaurant was bright and clean and the theme was, of course, rock and roll. The memorabilia on the wall blew my mind. James Brown's jeans, Elvis' vest top, The Beatles original recording of Hey Jude, an x-ray of Michael Jackson's foot and a signed Thriller album to name just a few.
Where else can you find 'The King' as well as the 'Prince of Pop' under the same roof? I was thinking to myself about how tiny the leather trousers were of James Hetfield (Metallica) as I dived into my legendary beefsteak Swiss cheese burger meal and reckoned I would struggle to get one thigh in his trousers and decided a diet would be in order when I return home. I still ate my meal guilt free though.
The toilets here were far and away the cleanest, most spacious, best smelling and best illuminated during our stay here and it was so refreshing to have a Western European/North American standard of cleanliness and hygiene after some of the toilet experiences we've had elsewhere on this holiday.
The food was excellent as was the service. After two weeks of watered down drinks even my wife (who doesn't drink ale or lager) was craving an unadulterated beer. We weren't disappointed. The Heineken was cold and tasted just as it should, which after two weeks of not being able to find a decent beer made this place seem like the proverbial Oasis in the Desert.
As another review states, the prices were extremely reasonable. We had 2.5 pints (equivalent to 5 bottles) of delicious Heineken lager, a double (white and dark) rum cocktail and two legendary burger meals and a large (1.5 litre) bottle of water for 83 dinars which is currently just a shade over £20 sterling in British money.
For the British reading this you will know that this is rock star quality for Wetherspoons' prices. We both were impressed with every aspect of our visit to the Hard Rock Cafe and consequently it is only fair to give it top marks.
The only disappointment was that the clothing shop was sold out hooded sweatshirts which I was hoping to purchase on this visit.
Overall, we were thoroughly impressed and if we return to Tunisia we will definitely be back to the Hard Rock Cafe.
If you are based in Monastir (as we were) you can get a taxi one way for 25 dinars if you haggle. But if you get the same shyster we did coming back from P.E.K. then expect to pay 30 as the price suddenly went up as we were getting out. If getting dropped off at P.E.K. expect a walk of just about one mile from where the taxi zone stops to the Hard Rock unless you are willing to pay extra. Also, we were told that the Sahara Beach Hotel at Skanes provides a midweek shuttle bus to the Hard Rock Cafe for its customers so it may be worth ringing them to see if...

I recently visited the Hard Rock Cafe in Port El Kantaoui and had an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a lively atmosphere, fantastic decor, and welcoming staff. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly our server, Jamel M. He was exceptional in every way—attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu.
To start, I have to admit that I'm not usually a fan of burgers, but the burger I had here was phenomenal. It was cooked to perfection, juicy, and flavorful with the perfect balance of toppings. It truly exceeded all my expectations and made me reconsider my stance on burgers entirely. Kudos to the kitchen staff for delivering such a high-quality dish!
The cocktails were another highlight of the night. The variety and creativity of the drinks were impressive, and each one I tried was delicious. The bartender clearly knows their craft, as the cocktails were not only tasty but also beautifully presented.
The ambiance of the Hard Rock Cafe is exactly what you would expect—vibrant, energetic, and filled with great music. The decor, featuring music memorabilia and rock-and-roll themes, added to the overall experience, making it a fun and memorable night out.

Now, let's talk about the staff - they're the real rockstars of this joint, serving up smiles and sass with every order like they're hosting their own foodie concert. 🤩🥁 I swear, I saw one waiter pull off a tray balancing act that would make Cirque du Soleil jealous - it was like watching a culinary magic show with burgers instead of bunnies! 🍔🎩✨
And the food? Oh, the food! Each bite was like a guitar solo for my taste buds, with flavors so bold and satisfying they could make a Michelin star chef do a happy dance. 🕺🌟 The burgers were juicier than a rock ballad, the fries crispier than a vinyl record, and don't even get me started on the milkshakes - they were thicker than a rock band's tour schedule! 🥤🎵
