I came to Ankara for 5 days to conduct research and stayed in a hotel nearby. I needed a place to work, and so chanced on Hacibaba. Subsequently, I went every day that I was in Ankara.
As an American, I'm used to excellent service, and I can happily say that my experience at Hacibaba exceeded all my expectations. I don't speak much Turkish, but a young staff member named Abdullah spoke perfect English. He helped me navigate the menu, gave me excellent recommendations, and made sure I had everything I needed. He was the real star of the show.
The food was also excellent. From the Turkish breakfast platter, the coffees, the menengiç (that I'm absolutely addicted to now), and the delectable desserts, the culinary experience at Hacibaba was also of a very high quality.
I also found it to be a comfortable place to sit and work for some extended time. It became a habit to come by, order a çay or turkish coffee, and work away on one of the many documents I needed to complete before my departure.
Between the service, the quality of the food, and the atmosphere, I highly recommend Hacibaba as an excellent place to grab dinner, desserts, and hang out - or get...
Read moreWe were just there, five adults and one child. We ordered a breakfast platter for four and three fresh orange juices. After 10 minutes, the waiter came back and told us that six people couldn't order a breakfast platter for four. As we were getting ready to leave, they told us to sit down so they could explain. We didn't want to listen and said we would file a complaint. They smugly responded, "Complain wherever you want." Of course, we reported the incident to both CİMER and the Provincial Directorate of Commerce. They said they would send a team for inspection. I hope they take the necessary action against these opportunists. Additionally, the officials we spoke with said that they do not have the right to enforce such a policy and that they cannot decide how many people can eat; their only obligation...
Read moreI went there with my boyfriend 2 times during our Ankara trip. The first time we sat outside and had great treatment and ordered the big breakfast which was excellent. The pricing was better than Istanbul. However, the second time we went there even though we had a table outside again the male waiter told us to go to another table that was all the way at the back and inside. There was a noisy fan and he opened the roof because, i assume, his friend who was sitting at a close table to ours, said it was too hot in there. When he opened the roof the sun was on my boyfriend but the waiter didn't care even though he saw it. He only closed it when i told it wasn't nice at all. The service and the treatment we got was 0/5. It was disappointing after the first time...
