Hak Evrensel Hatay Sofrası — Restaurant in Bakırköy

Do NOT come here, upon walking in, you would think this restaurant is very nice, fancy and it does LOOK very nice but once u start ordering there were a lot of issues. I started by preferring ice and I had to ask for it 3 times for them to bring it to me. Next, we pre-ordered ahead of time the food so it comes right away but it took around an hour to bring the food to our table although again, it was pre-ordered since we called and that’s what they requested. Food was ok, they are trying to copy Chef Burak but I’ve been to chef burak and he’s def a lot better in terms of food presentation, taste, quantity…etc. Now our biggest issue was when the check came, they added a bunch of things that weren’t even in our order, and they add up to 600 TL. It took us 30 min of going back and forth for them to fix the check and even then, they added additional costs and named it other things. This was extremely frustrating as it felt like they were just feeding off of foreigners.

If you don’t speak the language, and don’t know how to read Turkish, they abuse that to a very far extent. Not to mention that prices aren’t cheap, but the service and food quality is very low. I had dinner at the restaurant with my family. We had the salted lamp and chicken staffed with rice. It comes with a nice show where you light the salt, have a big fire and crack the salt to get the meat and the rice out of it. DELICIOUS 😋 I would give 5 stars if it is just the food. However, I have lots of concerns regarding the service. To start with, we ordered ice because the juice and the water were a little bit warm. It took 30 minutes to bring the ice to the table + asking the waiter four times!! The biggest concern was when we got the check. We found many items added to the check that we did not order, adding approximately 400 Turkish lira to the bill!!! We spent another 30 minutes trying to understand what these items are and getting a refund. I really recommend everyone to carefully check the bill to make sure that you are paying for what you order. I don’t think I’ll be coming to the restaurant again. Huge place, on the seaside, nice atmosphere. They have a nice clean bathroom and a praying space with ablution place which is great indeed. As a restaurant, the food is less than average and the prices are crazy expensive. Also these restaurants usually give you complimentary tea, but they charged us for it. The service is very very poor! We waited for over 20 minutes for a coke! Then we asked for the bill, the waiter asked for tips (which is shameless, also he didn'teven serve us by any means) but anyways I gave him 5 tl (he refused to take it because it's too little) I found his action to be very impolite and rude, I kept the money on the table anyhow. The manager was nice (humble and attintive), he served us the tea himself. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Very expensive...
