Mehm-ET Et Mangal — Restaurant in Nevşehir

I wanted to love this place, but the flavors of the main courses just fell flat. The mezze was good, with a lot of different dishes but the main courses lacked flavor. My chicken dish was just smoky and hard to eat. The testi kebab was okay but could’ve used more seasoning. Also, when we walked in, the staff seemed almost bothered by our presence, especially the blonde woman who looked at us like we were a nuisance rather than paying customers. The second woman who was bringing dishes out was nicer. Additionally, upon asking for the bill, the blonde woman had the audacity to demand my husband give her his phone so she could submit a 5 star review of the restaurant via his phone. At first I thought she was asking for us to leave a review, which I said we would, but then she kept pointing to his phone, ultimately taking it and submitting 5 stars via his Google account. Finally, the prices were a bit high and they made it seem like the mezze was included with our orders (like we didn’t order it; it came out after we ordered our main courses) but we were charged for these so it felt like a bait and switch. I have never experienced such genuine hospitality and service in any restaurant before! The food was extremely delicious too! They immediately brought out the starters a minute after we ordered, the owner himself came over and gave us free fries (such a humble man, he was also cleaning tables himself) then he came and did a great presentation of a dish we ordered that comes in a barrel. All the sides were so tasty! Mushroom and cheese too! After we finished eating, they served us free tea and a sweet made of rice (10/10) Their cheese kunafa is just perfect! And after we finished the tea and sweet, they served us with free Turkish coffee.. it was sweet and bitter..just amazing! The owner literally took my permission and carried my 5 month old sleeping baby all the way to our car and handed me the baby after I sat inside. Closed the door for me aswell! What a wonderful person! You will never get such a service anywhere in the world! 100% RECOMMENDED. MUST...

Excellent food, but a little dated and problematic with service.

We visited upon reading reviews. The food was impeccable and supper tasty! Everything was fresh and the welcome disses they bring were delicious! Proper Turkish cuisine!

Now on the down side, the toilets were a disgrace. Although they did not appear dirty, they were mouldy, smelling bad, old, with broken and patched tiles. Definitely off-putting. Also the staff were literally standing next to us, staring at us as we ate, with really unpleased looks as they were eager to clear and perhaps go home... on the positive, there is an old gentleman who is delightful and very courteous and made us feel welcome!
