I recently visited Lua for lunch with my family, and while the setting impressed, the dining experience had its highs and lows.
From the moment we walked in, Lua’s ambiance set a strong first impression. The space exudes a beautiful, bohemian charm, with warm wooden accents and calming earth tones. It feels peaceful and luxurious—an inviting atmosphere perfect for a relaxed dining. The menu leans toward a healthy-lifestyle aesthetic, which aligns well with the vibe.
Service was another highlight. We were warmly welcomed by Joan, who was vibrant, friendly, and made us feel instantly at home. Our server, Paula, continued that positive experience with a bright, warm smile and attentive service throughout our meal. Both Joan and Paula delivered excellent customer care—truly 10/10.
Unfortunately, the lunch menu itself didn’t quite match the ambiance or service. Compared to a previous dinner experience at Lua, the midday offerings felt underwhelming. Portions were notably small and not fully composed, often requiring multiple items to feel satisfied. That said, what we did eat was well-seasoned and thoughtfully prepared.
We tried the salmon and the teriyaki bowl. The teriyaki scored a solid 8/10—flavorful and satisfying. The salmon was even better at 8.5/10, thanks to its freshness and seasoning, but it could have really benefited from a heartier base—perhaps wild rice or roasted vegetables—to round out the dish and still maintain the healthy feel.
The watermelon cocktail was light, refreshing, and enjoyable, though not extraordinary. I’d give it a 7/10.
For dessert, we tried the churros and bread pudding. The churros were excellent—crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and an easy 9/10. The bread pudding, however, was a miss. Made with a croissant as the base, it didn’t hold up well against the cream sauce. By the time we got to it, it had turned soggy—unfortunately reminiscent of corn flakes cereal that's sat too long in milk. That one was a 2/10 for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors though, especially the pistachio addition, and the lightness of the cream sauce.
One final note: the number of menus was overwhelming. We were handed five—a specials menu, a new wing special menu, the main dining menu, a wine list, and cocktail menu. It made the ordering process unnecessarily complicated and somewhat confusing.Thankfully, Paula stepped in and supported with the selection process.
Overall, I’d rate our lunch experience at Lua a 6/10. The atmosphere and service were top-tier, but the food, while flavorful, lacked substance and cohesion in the lunch offerings. With a few adjustments—especially to portioning and menu presentation—Lua could turn a good experience into...

On our last evening in Turks and Caicos, we dined at Lua, and it was an unforgettable culinary experience. The evening began with an order of oysters, which were simply fantastic—fresh, briny, and perfectly chilled. The kale and avocado salad that followed was equally impressive, with flavors that were both vibrant and well-balanced.
For our main courses, we indulged in the veal chops and the branzino. Both dishes were expertly prepared, showcasing the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the kitchen. The veal chops were perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, while the branzino was light, flaky, and complemented by its accompaniments.
We paired our meal with a bottle of Mockingbird Cabernet, which turned out to be exquisite. Its rich, full-bodied profile elevated each bite, enhancing the entire dining experience.
Although we rarely order dessert, we couldn’t resist the tiramisu and the mille-feuille—and we were so glad we didn’t. It was probably one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The mascarpone cheese and delicate puff pastry layers truly lived up to the “thousand leaves” promise. Each bite was a symphony of textures and flavors.
Lua provided the perfect ending to a wonderful trip. From the ambiance to the impeccable service and outstanding dishes, it’s a dining experience we’ll remember for a long time. Highly...
