We specifically came to Bushman's last night for our anniversary dinner. We live in Dubai and were not staying at the resort but made a reservation and mad the drive out to The Palm specifically to visit this restaurant. Once reception asked if we were staying at the resort and we answered no we were put in the back of the restaurant and promptly forgotten. It took 20 minutes to get water ordered and menu's brought. During this time the Sommelier came and when asked if we desired wine and I said no were once again left saying she could not take an order for cocktails.
Finally we had a waiter come by and we put in our order but he also would not take the drinks order instead saying he would return and take the bar order later. When he finally did return it was to tell us that the oysters we ordered were unavailable. We changed to the scallops, and as he was leaving we had to ask him if we could finally put in our drink order, he had forgotten that we needed to do this still. While we waited our drinks arrived but they were the wrong drink order, at this point we just drank them because we didn't know if getting it fixed would ever happen.
When the scallops arrived they were well presented but the flavor profiles with the beef on the platter did not blend well. The scallops themselves were high quality but the overall approach to the presentation and flavors could use an update. By this point our cocktails were empty and would remain that way until well into our mains despite asking multiple times to order different ones. The staff kept offering to just bring us more and we had to keep saying no. This seemed to be a common problem because the table next to us ordered 1 additional beer and the staff brought 2, they were smart enough to refuse the additional drink.
As for the mains we had the Wagyu tomahawk and the baked salmon. The salmon itself was quite good however it lacked the color of well prepared salmon. It was light pink and appeared more steamed than baked as there was no Maillard reaction present on the fish. The tomahawk was well prepared but bland. It was served with a series of sauces which is normally how poor quality is hidden with good beef requiring only a pinch of salt and maybe some pepper to balance the beef flavor but this one seemed to be specifically under seasoned to be served with the sauces. Not an ideal situation for a wagyu steak.
We finally got our second round of drinks as we were ready to pay for the bill so were stuck drinking them instead of just getting out of there and going home as we desired. For 1500 AED we expected much better. Will not be coming back and not recommending...
Read moreThis review reflects my second visit to Bushman's, and unfortunately, it will be my last. The service was exceptionally poor, and the food quality was average at best, falling far short of justifying the time, money, or effort spent—let alone the frustration it caused.
From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. Despite having a confirmed reservation, we waited 20 minutes to be seated without being asked for our preference between smoking or non-smoking areas. The lack of organization was evident, and unfortunately, this was just the beginning. Throughout the meal, there was no dedicated waiter for our table; instead, 4-5 different staff members attended sporadically and inconsistently. None of the staff seemed trained—they didn’t take notes, forgot orders, and were dressed casually, giving no resemblance of a fine-dining experience. Even after requesting to speak with the manager twice, no improvements were made. Moreover, when we pointed out the delays and issues with the food quality, the staff's response was shockingly indifferent. They acted as though such shortcomings were normal, merely shrugging their shoulders without offering any meaningful solutions. No proper apology was given, which is the least one would expect from an established restaurant.
Although our food and drinks order was taken promptly, the execution was chaotic. We waited over 40 minutes for two glasses of wine, while a simple glass of beer never arrived, despite asking about it 3-4 times. The food was similarly disappointing, bearing no resemblance to the quality we remembered from a visit 2-3 years ago. The T-bone steak, expected to be a hearty cut, arrived as small, cube-like portions resembling shish grill meat, weighing far less than the 200-gram minimum. Ordered with mushroom sauce, it was served with barbecue sauce instead. The French fries were so oversalted that they were almost inedible unless one was extremely hungry. The Caesar salads, while acceptable in taste, were served without individual plates, a basic oversight.
The overall experience was aggravating due to the lackluster service and poorly prepared food. It’s baffling to pay the high prices of a 5-star establishment while receiving a dining experience that falls below fast-food standards. This visit to Bushman’s was truly disappointing, leaving a bad taste in both the literal and...
Read moreDuring a recent dining experience at the restaurant, an incident occurred at 9 pm on June 18 that I feel compelled to address. Accompanied by two guests, we sought to place an order using a meal package acquired from the hotel. Unfortunately, our server encountered a difficulty as their system only displayed a meal plan for two individuals, despite our explicit request for a package catering to three guests.
Following a 15-minute wait while attempts were made to rectify the situation, a pivotal moment arose when I approached the manager in hopes of a prompt resolution. Regrettably, my encounter with the manager did not meet expectations. Despite outlining the discrepancy and expressing my willingness to rectify the issue with the hotel directly, my request to place an order in the interim was met with refusal. Disagreement transpired regarding the number of guests we had paid for, drawing unwarranted security involvement upon my discussion with the manager.
Repeated appeals to the manager for a more amicable resolution were regrettably met with discourtesy, overshadowing the efforts made by the hotel to ultimately address the miscommunication and allow us to place our order for three individuals, albeit 30 minutes later. This experience left me feeling embarrassed in front of my guests and disenchanted by the entire ordeal.
Though apologies were extended by every party involved, save for the unyielding manager, this encounter has regrettably tainted our stay at the resort. As our first night at the premises, the behavior exhibited by the manager has regrettably marred our perception of this establishment. I am left with reservations about revisiting this venue in the future and find it challenging to recommend it to others based on this...
