Restaurant inside newly opened property Taj Exotica at Dubai Palm The interiors are superb, staff is cooperative & attentive crockery was class, seating arrangements were class. However The food presentation though outstanding but taste as per the authentic indian name was very very poor. Its a fine dining restaurant that offers indian food but India always comes with rich flavor & aroma therefore authenticity should be maintained to offer name that goes with taste of India. Appetizer was good as tikka was fully marinated, kebab was so so as the taste was more of spices rather meat. Murgh sirka pyaz : universal gravy with pieces of onions dipped in vinegar was dominant as the name suggests for the dish. Martaban ka meat : martaban (the earthen pot) was good but gravy was full of salt & an oil flavor just dominate the senses before swallowing (Chef told me its the taste of animal fat... He thinks I will buy this argument as iam eating Mutton first time in life) Mutton Biryani : All time low taste, it was more of Mint dominant biryani. Upon asking chef explain me the real taste of biryani defending mint domination on biryani (I was laughing inside as how people can underestimate the taste buds of foodie) Dal : they said "vargui dal" so, no comments except oil & cream topping that goes hard on digestive system. Mix vegetables : a usual navratan vegetarian qorma in non veg menu. Roti/bread : the bucket was full of buttery garlic nan, the restaurant forget that providing plain nan is a must to understand the real taste of food. Plus, they took too much of time in supplying bread, by that time food already cold. May be new restaurant so staff is under training. Sweets : Jalebi, lacks in crispy as it was put in microwave before serving. Orange kheer was a joke Crispy kalakand was more on krisp, less in kalakand quantity. Water served was perfect as i tild them to serve room temperature. Staff was very good but restaurant should put more efforts on taste for which people visit rather show. This review isnt written to seek usual stuff like " thanks, please give us a chance once again etc etc" It was first dine in experience that turns...
Read moreThe best presentation of food I've ever seen! Such unique items on the menu and impeccable service by Manbir. Beautiful ambience and comfortable seating. Pricing turned out to be perfect with Zomato and credit card offers. Now getting to the food: Started us off with a complimentary amuse bouche which was south Indian inspired poha wrapped around mozzarella cheese. Chutney was nice and dense but the overall item seemed to lack flavor. Next were appetizers. "Dahi ke kebab" were so beautifully plated but the taste again was a little bland. "Khurmani ke kebab" was the BEST chaat I've had in a long time. The complimentary palate cleanser bite was much appreciated and so very delightful. In main course, "Masala edamame paneer rolls" had really soft paneer and I was so pleasantly surprised by how well this non Indian vegetable went with the paneer. But the gravy could have been more flavorful "Nadru anjeer ke kofte" is highly recommended!! Super flavorful sauce and deliciously unique way of presenting the lotus stem. Kofta was nicely crispy and oh so well cooked "Ajmeri aloo phanas" was served with such a flair! We expected a lot from the dish but the jackfruit was a little too salty as well as the touille. The only truly disappointing item in everything we ordered Breads were all wonderfully made. The best was "Khameeri naan" 🫓. Mirchi and black garlic naan were decent We were too full for dessert but the staff thoughtfully got us a lovely dark chocolate brownie with candles and wishes for my brother's birthday. Overall we had a lovely evening, and I would recommend this place for a good experience on...
Read moreVarq at the Taj exotica is rated one of the best restaurants doing Indian food in Dubai. It lives up to this billing and more with an extremely unique menu that titillates the palate with authentic Indian flavours but with its own signature style. This is with an extremely welcoming atmosphere where the team make you feel welcomed and then go the extra mile to look after you. They are extremely knowledgeable about the dishes and one gets a good idea of the flavours. We started with the Vegetable trio and 3 chicken 3 ways trio as appetizers. We were offered an interesting take on mini idli with a tamarindy sauce. The murg makhmali and paneer were exquisite. For the mains we ordered Purvanchal Bhaji a unique take on methi saag and mandua roti. (Presentation pictured). The presentation is flawless and effort expended is amazing. It's add to the flavour which is smooth on the palate. The chicken sirka pyaaz just melts in your mouth with the hot panchdhan roti. After the meal which did not feel heavy at all we settled on Doda burfi pictured. PS the Sorbet like nimbu pani strikes a sweet sour flavour that's just right. Note every bit of the presentation is something to savour including the beatroot leaf papad and panjiri.
My compliments to the Sous Chef Anoop Brelvi and the team as they have really come up with something very unique in terms of taking an Indian menu to another level.
Varq provides a great ambience, nice music nothing heavy on the ear. Tables well spaced so you are not disturbed.
The staff go the extra step. Usama you rock.
If coming on a weekend would recommend reserving in advance as it is a...
