We ordered fried beef noodles, their special fried chicken, chicken skewers, and egg chicken fried rice. The service was quick. The noodles were good, but the fried chicken truly exceeded our expectations. It was crispy, soft, and savory. The skewers and fried rice were also very tasty. The rice used for the fried rice was very different from others but very delicious. There was a separate seating arrangement for families, apart from a common one. As avid lovers of Chinese cuisine, my husband and I embarked on a culinary journey to explore various Chinese restaurants in the China cluster. Our recent visit to the Lanzhou restaurant left us utterly disappointed.

Upon arrival, we were surprised when the cashier, who happened to be Indian, insisted on payment before dining, a practice quite uncommon in most eateries. Nonetheless, we complied and were informed that once our order was ready, we were to collect it from the kitchen area ourselves—a self-service arrangement. However, we couldn’t help but notice that a waiter was serving other customers nearby, which seemed inconsistent with their policy.

Our anticipation turned to dismay when we received our beef noodle soup, only to find it devoid of any beef. Instead, it was inundated with tofu, rendering the broth unappetizingly pale. As seasoned food enthusiasts, we were taken aback by the lack of attention to detail and quality control.

Upon raising our concerns to the staff, both the cashier and another employee attempted to rectify the situation by searching for beef in the soup, to no avail. Their brusque response and the cashier’s dismissive attitude left us feeling further disheartened. Despite their offer to add beef to the soup, we declined and requested a refund for our order.

It was not merely about the monetary value, as the amount was trivial (18.90 dhm). Rather, it was the overall experience that left us feeling dismayed and disrespected as patrons.
