The only reason this is getting two stars is due to the fact that the ONE member of staff that was on did his absolute best to cater to our needs and the food that we got was pretty decent. One pair of boots on the ground to serve in the bar, take table orders and deliver food and drinks to each table, whilst presumably being expected to follow all covid Cleaning procedures etc is absoluting shocking. What would have happened if this sole member of waiting/Bar staff had injured himself whilst changing a barrel for example. Hats off to the guy that looked after us, I wish I got his name now. No matter how many times we shouted him over for something he greeted us in a friendly manner and was very apologetic for the, shortages from the menu and the issues that we were having with the app etc but this can lead to customers having an awkward experience whilst visiting, some people wouldnt want to bother him because he's clearly visibly busy, but the whole point of dining out is to take the stress away from dining at home. Greene King are the "Country's leading pub retailer" 15 of these pubs are in Aberdeen, so I refuse to believe that there are no ways around transferring staff or asking staff to cover sicknesses in other Greene Kings pubs. I'm presuming that the members of staff have signed contracts to work for the Greene King brand and not the individual bar.
What did baffle me is that I have since found out that there were apparently two chefs on we still had to wait a good while for our food and they still managed to forget items on the only other tables order, there were only two customers at the other table so it wasn't a huge order.
Great potential, our food that we had was all pretty tasty and hot enough, Friendly service, however there is no way there should have only been one person working between the bar and restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, as suggested before Its my guess that management will fully expect this one member of staff to also take care of the extra duties brought on by the pandemic, which comes across as an almost impossible task.
Menu item shortages and glitchy apps are to be expected just now, my 2 star review has absolutely nothing to do with that, so please dont reply saying there are national delivery issues and shortages, I get that. Anyway good luck for the future and hopefully we have a better experience for...
Read moreWe visited tonight like we often do for our monthly staff meeting, and we always spend around £80-£100 on food and drink.
First ordered at 19:10 (I have attached the order). After around 60 minutes the food had no turned up so I went up and asked about this, I was told by a member of staff they would go and get an update. At this time food came out the lift and went to another table to which they told them they didn’t order (clearly our food) but was to late was already being eaten/there dog was in amgust the food. After receiving NO update 30mins later I went to the bar again at 20:40 1 hour 30minutes after ordering food to be told there was a a mix up with table 13… but at NO POINT did someone think to come and ask or tell us about this???
A male member of staff on apologised and at first offered us free desserts, to which I questions given we had already waited 1 hour 30mins for food. To which he agreed and offered us a full refund and food would come as soon as possible (this being at 20:50).
We sat for another 30mins until 21:30 to then have a member of staff approach us to be told the kitchen manager had phoned his chef to tell them NOT to make the food, why we had been sitting another 30mins and told absolutely nothing was disgusting..
To note we were/still are absolutely starving and will most likely go to the nearest takeaway to spend more money on food we shouldn’t need to be doing, as a side note we have ordered £40 worth of drinks already, once to go with the first time food was due and second time second food was due.
We have now been here almost 3.5 hours in total as we waited a bit to order food.
Extremely disappointed as this was our local and 2 of us have family in buckburn who come here almost every week so will be definitely telling them not to visit anytime soon.
When we went up for more drinks we were quick enough to be charged again.
I saw on another complaint the manager is back from leave tomorrow so would appreciate a response or we can visit in person.

Another hour later mains arrived again for some of the table and most people finished by the time rest arrived which ruined the experience as would be nice to eat together and this caused me anxiety.Finally pudding arrived and was shocked at the portion of Xmas pudding (very small) Had to keep looking for staff for a drink so not happy at all.Went out for a smoke and spoke to another family who were leaving as they were so angry as they had only starter served to them and were there half hour before us and little boy was hungry and they demanded money back and went to garage for sandwich which I found was shocking on Christmas Day.We left at 6pm after 3 hours of waiting and was so upset I just went home and not to my neighbour as I usually do.I really wanted to have an amazing Christmas with my family and this experience has ruined Christmas and will never return again.I hope the manager reads this as I will be looking for compensation.How dare you treat people this way ?
