We used to come here often but genuinely we’ve lost hope now, from today we will never return. Terrible service. Only one waitress (Emma) seemed to be running the whole section — bless her, she was doing her best and was very apologetic — but it’s completely unacceptable for a place to be so understaffed.
My mum arrived 10 minutes before us and was seated but not served and ignored the whole time. Even after we joined her, we waited ages for drinks. When the food finally arrived, both my mum’s plate and mine were stained — mine also had dirty flecks on it. I pointed this out to the woman who brought it (Karen), and she tried to wipe it with the tea towel she was carrying the plates with, then used HER BARE THUMB NAIL to scrape the dirt off and attempted to hand it back to me. Absolutely unhygienic and frankly disgusting. I had to ask for a clean plate. I genuinely had to gape at what I’d just witnessed… in case any of the staff query this happening because we couldn’t believe it either, we booked the table for 6:15 on Monday 14th July and you could probably see this occur via CCTV by the front door table next to the window around 6:50pm… abhorrent
We ordered the château de bœuf — just four thin slices of steak to share between two people. Not worth the money at all - yes delicious but it was minuscule.
Emma was understanding and gave us a small discount, which we appreciated, but the hygiene issue alone makes this somewhere we’ll never return to. The table next to us also complained, so clearly it wasn’t just us.
This was on a Monday — not busy enough to excuse the poor service or the lack of basic cleanliness.
Genuinely the most disgusting thing I...
Read moreI visited the restaurant with two friends at the recommendation of one of my friends, who regularly visits this restaurant with her family. She specifically selected it as our other friend has mobility issues and needed to be able to park in an accessible parking space and access the restaurant, our table and the toilet with ease, as well as have a comfortable seat. All of these requirements were fulfilled, so our friend was delighted.
However, the best aspects of our lunch out was the delicious food (we selected from the excellent value fixed price menu) and the impeccable service provided by lovely Caren, our waitress. Caren was warm, friendly, efficient and attentive. The restaurant was busy, but Caren remained calm and unflustered and made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant.
We later discovered that Caren was celebrating her 20th anniversary as an employee at the restaurant, and were delighted to see her being recognised by her team with a little presentation of gifts and flowers and photos. It’s always lovely to see team members being appreciated by their colleagues, as the care they receive impacts on the care they provide their customers. In this case we couldn’t fault the care and attention we received from Caren. She’s a genuinely lovely person who cares about her customers, which we appreciated. We had driven down from South London, and it was truly worth it to have such a lovely and positive lunch experience. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you team. Caren is an asset to your...

We visited Miller and Carter today and were greeted by a very friendly lady who promptly showed us to our seats for a table of four. Our group ordered a variety of dishes: a 16oz Ribeye steak with chimichurri and chips, Sea Bass, half a rack of pork ribs, and the ultimate dirty burger.
Starting with the burger and the steak, both were cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and flavorful, while the burger hit all the right notes in terms of taste. However, while the food itself was great, the presentation was just okay—nothing too exciting, but certainly acceptable.
The Sea Bass was enjoyable, though we felt the portion size could have been a bit larger given the price. It was well-cooked and tasted fresh, but a little more on the plate would have made a big difference.
Unfortunately, the meal took a downward turn with the pork ribs. There were only five tiny ribs, with barely any meat between them—so much so that even a baby would still be hungry afterward. To top it off, the coleslaw, which was supposed to come with the dish, was completely forgotten. For the price charged, the portion size and quality of the ribs were highly disappointing.
Overall, while the steak and burger were solid, the ribs were a major letdown, and the meal felt overpriced, especially for what was offered with the ribs. Unfortunately, this experience has left us feeling that we won’t...
